Ski Rental Technician, Vermont Mount Snow is located at the southern tip of Vermont in the Northeastern United States. On a map, it is located on Route 100 in the town of West Dover, midway between Brattleboro and Bennington. New York City is a 4 hour drive south, and Boston is a 3 hour drive east of the mountain. A majority of Mount Snow’s guests come from these major metropolitan areas. Mount Snow offers 104 trails and 19 lifts encompassing 598 acres in Vermont’s Green Mountain National Forest. There is a 400-foot competition Superpipe and 4 terrain parks providing varying degrees of difficulty for boarders skiers alike. We are currently recruiting Ski Rental Technicians for Mount Snow.
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE To coordinate and supervise the work of a crew of ski technicians. To maintain and repair ski equipment, including tuning and repair of skis; mounting/remounting, adjustment and repair of bindings; boot fitting and repair; and related tasks. Assignments include more complex/difficult and unusual maintenance and repair tasks. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES · Perform the duties repair/rental shop staff: assist in interviewing/advise on hiring; train new employees in technical/mechanical skills as well as shop operating policies and procedures · Plan and issue daily work assignments; monitor work in progress and inspect completed work; assist in employee performance evaluation; discipline employees. · Perform shop front desk check in and cashier duties, take in skis and other equipment brought in by customers and prepare work orders; answer a variety of customers' questions related to ski equipment maintenance and repair; inform customers of potential component failure and other problems, and advise on appropriate action; return finished equipment to customers; take payment and return correct change; deal with unusual problems or complaints. · Adjust and repair bindings: perform visual and mechanical binding checks; make necessary binding adjustments; test bindings for proper performance. · Fit boots: assess customer's needs and cause of boot-related problems; determine best type of boot or boot adjustment; make necessary adjustments. . · Repair boots: replace buckles, bales and other boot parts. · Oversee/assist with rental shop clerk duties: issue and adjust rental equipment; complete rental forms, take payment, and the like. · Oversee and carry out proper maintenance of tools and equipment used in ski tuning and repair. Perform supply, tool and equipment inventories. · Ensure that all applicable safety procedures are followed by employees. · Conduct regular quality control inspections of completed work. · Open and close shop, and ensure that proper security procedures are followed. · Prepare timesheets and any other required operations records and reports. · Oversee/assist with general shop maintenance. · Provide superior service to our customers (internal and external) by following the Resort Etiquette Guidelines. · Perform other tasks as assigned. WORKING RELATIONSHIP Minimal supervision is received from a repair shop supervisor or other senior staff member. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS QUALIFICATIONS · High school education or equivilant desirable. Binding manufacturer's certification perferred. · One to two years of ski tuning/repair and bootfitting experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
· Excellent technical/mechanical knowledge and skills in ski tuning and repair, bootfitting and repair, and maintenance and repair of other ski equipment. Good knowledge of and skills in maintaining a wide variety of shop tools and equipment used in ski equipment maintenance and repair. · Strong reading, writing and math skills. · Previous supervisory experience preferred. · Ability to deal with customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
