Problem ID & Background Info
• Decrease in fatalities since 2004
• Indiana strives to reduce the number of traffic fatalities
   from 815 in 2008 to 789 in 2010.

Statewide traffic collision and fatality performance measures:
• Number of traffic fatalities
• Fatality rate per 100,000 population
• Fatalities per 100M Vehicle Miles Traveled
• See page 13 of the FY 2010 ICJI Highway Safety Plan for the traffic
fatality performance plan, goals and objectives
          Performance Plan
                      Collisions & Fatalities
Goals & Objectives:
• Reduce traffic fatalities
   from 6 in 2009 to 4 in 2011 33%

• Reduce traffic injuries
   from 444 in 2009 to 400 in 2011 10%

• Reduce traffic collisions
   from 2,244 in 2009 to 2,020 in 2011 10%
            Goals & Objectives
                      Occupant Protection

                                     6 – 2 = 4 possible restrained
                                                 25 % restrained
            Goals & Objectives
                         Young Drivers
1. Decrease young driver fatalities from 0 in 2009 to 0 in 2011
