                 College Planning Night for Parents of Juniors
             Monday, January 24, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in Corcoran theater
           Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 8:15 a.m. in the Counseling Center

Mrs. Lynn Ossowski, College Counselor, and Ms. Raquel Guevara, Junior Class Counselor,
will discuss the college admissions process. This is for parents only as juniors will get this
information at school when they also receive the Salpointe 100-page College Planning
Guide. If you’ve never come to a Counseling workshop before, this is THE one to attend.
Topics include…

         Gathering information about colleges and universities
         What is required in a college application
         ACT and SAT tests
         Factors influencing admissions decisions
         Applying to the universities in Arizona and out of state
         Junior / Senior year timeline
         Questions / Answers

          College Planning Night for Freshmen & Sophomores
         Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in Corcoran theater
        Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 8:15 a.m. in the Counseling Center

Both students and parents are encouraged to meet with Freshman Counselor, Mr. Calkins,
and Sophomore Counselor, Sr. Helen as well as our College Counselor. Topics will include
maximizing your chances for admission, current trends in admissions in Arizona and out of
state, scholarships, and question/answer session. We will distribute the PSAT results, and
also briefly review course selection for next year.

                              Playing Athletics in College
            Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in Corcoran theater

Join the Athletics Department, Coaches and Counseling Staff for an informative
presentation on playing athletics at the collegiate level. Pick up a copy of Salpointe’s Guide
to Playing Athletics in College. Topics include…

         How to position yourself to be recruited
         Timeline for athletes beginning with freshman year
         NCAA policies and NCAA Eligibility Center
         Working with club and school coaches
         Balancing college goals and athletic goals; finding the right fit
