MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Heritage Day, 24 September, is a Public Holiday on which South Africans across the spectrum are encouraged to
celebrate their cultural heritage and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that
belongs to all its people. “...when South Africans celebrate the diverse cultural heritage that makes up a "rainbow
nation". It is the day to celebrate the contribution of all South Africans to the building of South Africa” [Lowry].

THURSDAY 23 OCTOBER
As South Africans we can be truly proud of our rich and diverse heritage. As a part of our Heritage Day
Celebrations we are going to:
Dress in clothes that best represent our family heritage – cultural dress. Included must
be a South African Flag. A drawn paper flag will be acceptable.
We are going to combine the two breaks and have a good old braai. There will be
wors and rolls available at R10.00 each for those, who like the school worry about
identifying their piece of meat on a braai for 250 people. The learners can bring chips
and a cold drink. There will be a chicken sausage option, cooked separately.
A Heritage Day Assembly at 7:30 Thursday morning.
Is now just over a week away and our excitement is building as the day draws closer. There is still plenty
