supported by the National Film and Video Foundation. "It's great to see the years of planning finally being realized with a
full cast and crew on set at Michaelhouse," says Brad Logan (1991). "We're delighted to see a South African film being

Views & News - Catch-up with Old Boys
A number of Old Boys sent messages this month. Thank you!

STEVENS, David: 1967 l l Just a short note to thank you for the mail I received reminding me
that I turn 60 on 16 April 2010. It seems like yesterday that I matriculated in 1967 at Kearsney. I live in the Midlands of
England and have just recently down sized and moved house as my three daughters have all left home. My wife and I
have just become grandparents for the second time! I have worked for the international firm of Consulting Engineers,
Ove Arup and Partners International Ltd for over thirty years and through my career have visited many parts of the world.
I look forward to retirement: putting my feet up in the very near future, to paint water colours and spend more time at our
holiday home on the Northumberland coast.

CARTER, Julian: 1953 | | My wife and I were lucky enough to attend the magnificent concert given in
the school Chapel last Friday. What a delight it was to hear the beautiful voices of both choirs. I was able to only identify
two other Old Boys from around my era which I found strange due to the interest shown in the choir at that time. I don’t
believe that I have ever seen an event so well supported and the standing ovation at the end was well deserved by both
choirs. The school is to be commended on this initiative and I look forward to more in the future, perhaps in a larger
venue to avoid the rather tight squeeze. Congratulations to all concerned.

Touch Rugby & Old Crocks: Letter of thanks from Quintin van Jaarsveld
To: Rene du Toit
Subject: A heartfelt thank you

Hi Rene,

I cannot thank you and your team and everyone at Kearsney College enough for the life changing contribution the
Kearsney Community has made to my and my family's lives.

The day was run perfectly and it was an honour to have a day dedicated to me. The day was absolutely incredible. It's
amazing to think that you and everyone at Kearsney College, a school I never even attended, went to so much effort to
assist me and my family. It is truly remarkable.

The bombshell from Mr Grant at McCarthy Vehicle Finance was in a word “overwhelming”. When he made the
announcement I was at a loss for words. I was absolutely speechless. The combined total of the amount that was written
off and the massive sum that was raised on the day is more that I will earn in 18 months at the newspaper!

I don't think anyone realises how life-altering this joint contribution is going to be for me and my family. Efforts of such a
magnitude give me new-found hope as it is somewhat scary at times to take a moment and assess what our situation
really is.

I might not be able to walk, but the improvements - however small they might seem - that I have made over the past ten
years thanks to contributions such as the one made by you, your team and everyone at Kearsney as well as McCarthy
Vehicle Finance, the Chris Burger Petro Jackson Players' Fund, the KZN Rugby Union and Green Office have enabled
me to finish school, continue my education and ultimately secure a job which makes life much more 'normal'.

I'm forever grateful for your wonderful contribution.

Please can you forward this message on to Mr Van den Aardweg as well as Martin and Andrew.

A heartfelt thank you to all of you,
Quintin van Jaarsveld

Reflections on-line
When nothing makes sense and you are confused or frustrated, God has the answer. If suddenly your outlook is brighter
and you find traces of hope, He has whispered to you. But again when things are going well and you have much to be
thankful for, He has blessed you.

When you have a purpose to fulfill and dreams to follow, God has opened your eyes and has called you by name. If you
feel that your life is on hold and time has passed by, God is waiting with you.
