                        AND DISCHARGE HEADERS

     Executive summary
          •   Identify risks and hazards related to the scope of work required.
          •   Provide any preventative measures for the risk and hazards Identified.
          •   The successful must take measurements and do the fabrication at the workshop.
          •   Remove the old existing pipes, Valves and replace with the new pipes.
          •   Secure the replacement pipe to minimise stress on the weld when operational.
          •   Maintain good house keeping.
          •   The contractor to paint the interior and exterior of the replacement pipe acid and corrosion
              resistance product.

Site meeting Notice:
A council representative will meet prospective vendors for a site
inspection as indicated.
The vendor must be represented at the site meeting by a person who is
directly employed by the tenderer and is suitably qualified and
experienced to comprehend the implications of the work involved.
Attendance of the site inspection is compulsory and quotations from
vendors who did not attend the site meeting will not be considered.
This request for quotations is subjected to the terms of the uMhlathuze
Municipality Preferential Procurement Policy. It is solely the
responsibility of aspirant vendors who desire to avail themselves of the
preferences available under this policy to familiarize themselves of its
contents and to make such claims for preference and must have at
least a 1 ME OR 3 GB CIDB rating.
Copies of the uMhlathuze Municipality Preferential Procurement
Policy may be obtained from the office of the city treasurer.

Introduction
 The pump station is designed to operate with three pumps, two pumps on standby one
 operational. The duty pump to start-up when the first pear ball is reached, the second pump to
 back up when level keep the rising, and the third one when the two pumps are not coping with
 the level. As part of routine maintenance it has been understood that L1 pump station header
 requires maintenance.

Scope of work

    •   The Contractor to provide all materials, consumables, labour, equipment and
        supervision for the scope required.
    •   The contractor to provide H & S plan for the risks identified.
    •   The contractor to provide the QCP for the scope of work required.

    •   A suitable qualified contractor is required to remove and replace the existing header.
        The old existing valves, NRV and the isolation valve, must be replaced and new valves
        to be supplied by the contractor.
    •   The successful contractor will be required to physical take measurement for fabrication
        purposes prior installation.
    •   The contractor to manufacture the suction and the discharge headers. A new isolation
        valve will be installed at the main discharge line for isolation purposes.
    •   Flanges drilled to be drilled suitably to suit the pump suction, discharge and existing
        discharge pipe flanges. This can be determined on site. The contractor will be required
        to break through the wall, to connect on the existing discharge pipe outside the pump
        house.

    •   All material used to be SABS approved.
    •   The pipe material to be Carbon steel, ASTM A106 seamless pipe schedule no. (STD)
        40. The pipe to be painted internal and external with product similar to copon coating
        the preferred product is SigmaGuard internal and Sigma Zinc, cover and Dur external.
    •   The successful contractor to tighten all bolts and nuts, and ensure no leakage will be
        experience when the system is operational.
    •   The NDT on the fabrication will be required, the successful contractor to allow for Dye
        pen or MPI to be done on the welds prior galvanising. The client Engineer will appoint
        third part to carry out the NDT.
    •   The contractor to ensure the measurements are correct prior installation, as one pump
        will be done at a time. Blank flange, spool pieces will be required to isolate the pumps.
    •   The contractor to assign the competent person to perform and supervise the required
        task.
    •   CIDB rating of 1-SL or 1-ME or 3GB

Work Procedure

  •   Shut down electric and Isolate one pump. Issue permit to work.

  •   Remove pump no and close the line with the blind flange.

  •   Take measurements and do fabrication at the workshop.

  •   Remove the flange and commission the first pump.

  •   Isolate and remove the second pump, install the spool piece between the first and the
      third pump than commission the system.

  •   The pump station will be using two pump as one pump and the pipes will be remove to
      manufacture the new header.

  •    After fabrication at the workshop, install and remove the third pump than commission the
      system.

  •   Install the spool piece where the third pump has been remove than commission the
      system.

  •   When the contractor is working on one pump header, the remaining two pumps must be
      operational. One pump must be done at a time.

  •   Put the new isolation valve at the end of the discharge line.

  •   Clean the discharge flanges and use new galvanised bolts, nuts, gasket and washers on
      installation of new headers.

  •   Use proper lifting equipment to install the suction and discharge headers.

  •   Flanges drilled to be drilled suitably to suit the pump suction and discharge fittings. This
      can be determined on site.

  •   Tighten all bolts and nuts, and ensure no leakage will be experienced when the pumps
      are operational.

  •   The new installed headers will be commissioned, and tested and witnessed by the Client
      inspector.
  •   Welding specs to API 1104 or as approved by the NDT inspector.

  •   As built drawing be submitted with data pack.

Painting

     • The pipe materials to be degrease and washed down with potable water. Abrasive blast
        clean the pipe in accordance with ISO 5501-1, Grade Sa 2 ½ to obtain a blast profile of
        40 to 60 microns. The preferred product to be SigmaGuard 720.
     • Internal coating, apply two full coat of paint to get 250 microns DFT minimum.
     • External coating, the primer must consist of zinc product at 75 microns DFT minimum,
        the second coat at 125 microns DFT minimum and the third coat at 50 microns DFT
        minimum.
     • The pipe to be painted with colour coding paint (green exterior), indicating that it is the
        sewer line.
     • All painting to be done at the workshop prior final installation.

Note: Client will appoint a Third Party Inspection Authority (Paint Suppliers) to approve the final
coatings. All surface preparation and application shall be in accordance with the general painting
specification of Sigma coating and SABS 1200HC and SABS064.


Safety

    •    All work to comply with the rules and regulations of the OSH act.
    •    Contractor to provide safety plan identifying the associated risks.
    •    Safety plan must be made available on site at request.
    •    Site audits will be done by Client Safety Officer to monitor compliance. Safety officers will
         exercise authority over any tasks performed that are considered as a non-conformance.
