ORIX Auto Announces Business Cooperation with SOMPO JAPAN INSURANCE INC. for
Auto Insurance Sales to “My Car Lease” Customers
TOKYO, Japan – November 24, 2006 – ORIX Auto Corporation agreed on a business
cooperation with SOMPO JAPAN INSURANCE INC. (SOMPO JAPAN) to provide auto insurance
sales to its “My Car Lease” customers.
Through this business cooperation, the two companies have established a system directly linking
ORIX Auto Corporation’s “My Car Lease Desk,” which handles “My Car Lease” inquiries, and
“SOMPO JAPAN Call Center,” which handles insurance-related inquires.
ORIX Auto Corporation has been focusing on broadening the market for “My Car Lease,” and by
promoting the basic understanding of its customers the Company expects to expand the number
of “My Car Lease” contracts with insurance. Utilizing SOMPO JAPAN’s specialized staff of
providing fair and equal insurance information to customers, a call center for ORIX Auto
Corporation has been set up within SOMPO JAPAN. Through a solid information link, and
realizing comprehensive support to its customers, the Company aims to expand auto insurance
sales to its “My Car Lease” customers.
Such a business cooperation utilizing call center linkage is one-of-a-kind, and going forward,
ORIX Auto Corporation looks to expand its operations to its corporate customers as well.
*ORIX Auto Corporation has requested SOMPO JAPAN to develop insurance products suitable
for leasing schemes, and has partnered in developing new insurance and guaranteed products in
the past. Released in March 1999, “LAP,” an auto insurance for leased vehicles, has received
much acclaim as a new type of insurance meeting the needs of customers, and has resulted in
other insurance companies offering similar products. In addition, the Company’s original auto
insurance, “Guard2,” aimed at “My Car Lease” customers, was also released in January 2005.
