COMPANY PROFILE 2005/080029/23 REGISTRATION DATE 29/06/2005 INTRODUCTION Social, Economic and Environmental development has been a challenge the world has still to find solutions for to attain sustainability. These have prompted the notion of sustainable development since 1987 Brundland Commission Report (Our Common Future). The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 resulting in a blue print for sustainable development. President Thabo Mbeki reiterated the importance of addressing critical human, economic and environmental needs issues in the African Continent. The World Summit on Sustainable Development supported the goals of Agenda 21. Dyambwini Construction and Project Solution (Dyambwini C&PS) Company was founded more than seven years ago by a South African from the Black community. The founder was driven by ambitions to provide solutions and the need to contribute in fast tracking socio economic and environmental development of the South African community and the Region. The founder identified key areas that could serve as a wagon that would be useful in this endeavor. Dyambwini has divisions that provide various within the organisation, with main co- business being Consulting Services and Construction Services. Members of the company have more than 20 years of Construction, energy management, environmental management and training experiences. The organisation had provided services to most of the renowned organizations nationally and internationally. POLICY STATEMENT Dyambwini is black owned organisation that believes in an equal opportunity for all. The company’s values and vision is enhanced through positive contributions to the transformation of socio-economic environments that, previously, led to the exclusion of disadvantaged groups from gaining access to opportunities. The management Dyambwini strongly believes in the principle of assembling the correct group of people for each task using the best expertise available. BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT POLICY SUSTAINABILITY As part of the BEE, Dyambwini acknowledge the need to contribute in the further build up of BEE. Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) is defined as an integrated and coherent socio-economic process that directly contributes to the economic transformation of South Africa and brings about significant increases in the number of black people that manage, own and control the country's economy, as well as significant decreases in income inequalities. Dyambwini Construction and Projects Solution acknowledges that, for our initiatives to be sustainable and meaningfully empowering, it must be based on a strategic opportunities for our industry. These initiatives must be underpinned by sound business sense and logic, and must be well structured and focused, with deliverable growth objectives. Dyambwini further acknowledge that the sustainability, competitiveness and growth of our industry require the empowerment and transformation of the sector. Empowerment and transformation makes good business sense. Broad-based BEE means the economic empowerment of all black people including women, workers, youth, people with disabilities and people living in rural areas through diverse but integrated socio-economic strategies that include: • increasing the number of black people that manage, own and control enterprises and productive assets; • facilitating ownership and management of enterprises and productive assets by communities, workers, cooperatives and other collective enterprises; • human resource and skills development; • achieving equitable representation in all occupational categories and levels in the workforce; • preferential procurement; and • investment in enterprises that are owned or managed by black people. OWNERSHIP Dyambwini is a 100% black women and men owned close corporation rendering specialised professional services, supply, training and construction solutions. STRATEGIC REPRESENTATION The management of Dyambwini consists of the managing directors, professional staff, construction staff and the administrative personnel. All the personnel of the organisation are involved in decisions that affects them. EMPLOYMENT EQUITY Black staff members represent 90% of the total workforce, 10% white members and they supervise those tasks allocated to them that require outsourcing. SKILLS DEVELOPMENT Dyambwini aims to spend at least 3% of its total payroll on skills development. The training always involves black students – short courses as well as postgraduate courses. As far as possible – depending on specific projects – black learners are accommodated. PREFERENTIAL PROCUREMENT Preferential Procurement is a measure designed to widen market access for black entities, in order to integrate them into the mainstream of the economy. Preferential Procurement will create economic empowerment benefits indirectly but meaningfully as it multiplies the effects of private and public sector intervention to promote Broad- based BEE. Dyambwini strive to procure at least more than 60% of its services and supplies to BEE companies. ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT Enterprise Development aims at assisting and accelerating the development of the operational and financial capacity of entrepreneurial enterprises that are BEE compliant. It is defined in terms of the total investment by a company in other entities that are BEE compliant. Dyambwini strives to fund and support black owned SMMEs by spending at least 1% of its post-tax profits and total management time to contribute to enterprise development initiatives. CORPORATE SOCIAL INVESTMENT Social Development refers to the opportunity to encourage activity that will foster socioeconomic growth and development in the Industrial building sector. Dyambwini strives to spend at least 1% of its post-tax profits and employee time toward Social Development.
