                                         Job Description

Job Title:              Marketing and Communications Manager

Reports To:             The Chief Executive

Direct Reports:         Business Development Team
                        Marketing and Communications Team

Remuneration:            Competitive rewards package


Job Purpose

To create strategies and develop plans based on business revenue goals which maximise match day
and non-match day revenue and profitability. To proactively seek out commercial opportunities and
sell across the Club’s portfolio. Be responsible for external public relations, brand advertising, brand
identity, web design, shows and events planning, as well as finding and directing of outside vendors.

Key Responsibilities
    To promote the Club and be responsible for high standards of corporate communications
       with stakeholders.
    To maximise marketing opportunities coordinating Road shows and conferences, and
       developing marketing campaigns
    To oversee and be responsible for the content , development and generation of revenue of
       the Club website and other media
    To build and maintain strong relationships with the Media
    To manage and incentivize the business development team to capitalize on sales
       opportunities in order to maximize match day and non-match day revenue across the Club’s
       portfolio including Hospitality, Advertising and Match-ball sponsorship
    Support the Identification of new business and increased sales opportunities
    Maintain and build relationships with current customers ,members and Sponsors
    Sponsor activation and Contract fulfillments.
    To work with the Business Relationship Manager to build the business generated by the
       Players’ Club (events programme, expand, grow numbers/revenue)
    Represent SCCC at key Sussex business events
    To maximise professional networking opportunities with existing sponsors and potential
       sponsors
    To work with the Retail and Consumer Manager to maximize revenue from existing and new
       retail strategies covering Shop sales, ticketing and membership




General Responsibilities as a Member of the SCCC Executive Team
    Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated legislation in
       your team
    Be responsible for and involved with the recruitment of staff in your team

 Manage team absences and rotas in accordance with Club policy and ensure appropriate
  levels of cover and attendance
 Implement the Club appraisal process effectively to review team performance and identify
  development opportunities which will enable all members of the department to realise their
  potential.

                                                 Criteria
1. Qualifications
              Professional marketing/ Communications / business qualification (Preferred but not
              essential)
2. Professional Experience
              Business development experience, with the ability to generate new business for the
              Club
              Proven success in a marketing role
              Line management experience to include performance management
              Experience of managing budgets
3. Skills & Knowledge
              Leadership skills
              Strong communication skills, including public speaking and listening skills
              An understanding of future developments within the professional game and the
              commercial opportunities these present.
              Competent IT skills to include experience of:
                            a. Producing professional, clear and attractive written reports and
                                proposals in Microsoft Word
                            b. Producing and analysing data in Microsoft Excel
                            c. Presentations using Powerpoint
                            d. Email applications such as Microsoft Outlook
