                                                                                                        “I really enjoyed the anatomy and physiology

                                                                                                        The fact that the physiotherapy course

                                                                                                        incentive for Steven. “Even though the
                                                                                                        campus is quite large, it has a very homely
                                                                                                        feel to it. Having grown up in the small, rural
                                                                                                        community of Tynong, I enjoy the sense
                                                                                                        of community and belonging the campus
                                                                                                        provides,” he said.
                                                                                                        “It is much easier to get involved in
                                                                                                        student life at Peninsula than at a bigger
                                                                                                        campus, and there is more encouragement
                                                                                                        to participate in learning outside of the
                                                                                                        structured lectures, practicals and tutorials.”
                                                                                                        To this end, Steven has been actively
                                                                                                        involved with the student union and the
                                                                                                        establishment of the Monash Physiotherapy
                                                                                                        Society, which is now one of the largest
                                                                                                        clubs on campus. “I have gained
                                                                                                        experiences and life skills that you just can’t
                                                                                                        learn in the classroom, skills that will be
                                                                                                        invaluable throughout my life,” he said.
                                                                                                        Steven has many plans for his future. “I’m
                                                                                                        interested in health politics and policy and
                                                                                                        am passionate about equity of healthcare,
                                                                                                        especially for rural and Indigenous
                                                                                                        communities,” he said. “I would also like
                                                                                                        to further my studies.”

                                                                                                activities have enriched my life in many
                                                                                                ways. I’m part of a campus community
                                                                                                with a great sense of belonging.”
                                                                                                Elise plans to work in human resources
                                                                                                when she finishes her studies. “With my
                                                                                                Monash degree and my extra-curricular
                                                                                                activities, I’m well on my way to achieving
                                                                                                that goal.”
