					CPM® Emeritus Membership Application
Emeritus membership is designed to recognize longstanding CPM Members. An Emeritus CPM
Member continues to receive all of the benefits and services of active membership for reduced dues.

How to Qualify for CPM Emeritus Membership
A CPM Member can qualify for emeritus membership in one of three ways:

Option 1: Fully Retired
Annual dues: 20% of active CPM dues, which is $105 in 2007.
 1. Have been a CPM Member for at least 30 years.
 2. Be at least 65 years of age.
 3. Be fully retired from any business activity. By the IREM® definition, this means the member
does not have an active real estate license (unless maintaining a license purely for personal
reasons and not for business reasons), does not collect a fee or wage from any business of more
than the limit allowed by the Social Security laws, and does not receive a W- 2, 1099, or a K1
as a result of compensation received for services rendered for more than the maximum required
by Social Security laws. (However, a member may receive a 1099 or a K1 as it relates to
investment income.) Should the member return to active employment in any profession at any
time, the member must agree to notify the Institute and must return to active CPM membership.

Option 2: Service to the Institute
Annual dues: 50% of active CPM dues, which is $260 in 2007.
      1. Have been a CPM Member for at least 25 years.
      2. Have made outstanding contributions of personal time and effort to the Institute by serving at
least five years in qualifying positions. At least two years of service must be at the national
level, two years must be at the chapter level, and the fifth year can be either. Qualifying
            positions include:
 Chapter service: president, president-elect, vice president, secretary, treasurer, or a
member of the chapter’s executive council.
 National service: president, president-elect, secretary/treasurer, senior vice president,
vice division director, elected governing councilor, regional vice president, committee,
board, or task force chair or vice chair, national faculty, course 101 instructor, ethics
facilitator, management plan grader, or a member of the JPM Academy of Authors.
(Serving as an instructor, a management plan grader, or as a member of the JPM
Academy of Authors each count as one year of national service, irrespective of how long
the member has been in such status.)

Option 3: Semi-retired
Annual dues: 50% of active CPM dues, which is $260 in 2007.
      1. Meet a formula that combines membership tenure and age: age + tenure = 90
      2. Be semi-retired from any business activity. By the IREM definition, this means the member
is actively employed 20 hours a week or less. (Employer confirmation is part of the
application process). Should the member return to full-time active employment (more than
20 hours a week) in any profession at any time, the member must agree to notify the Institute
and must return to regular active CPM membership.

Additional Requirements
All emeritus applicants must also:

    1. Be current with all national and chapter membership dues. If a CPM Member applies for
emeritus status within the first 90 days of the calendar year, this requirement will be met if
the previous year's membership dues have been paid in full. If subsequently approved for
emeritus status, the member shall then pay emeritus dues for the current year. CPM Members
who apply for emeritus status after the first 90 days must have paid the current year's
         membership dues in full.

    2. Be approved by the local chapter. The chapter will confirm that the member is current with
chapter membership dues, and if applicable, verify that the member is retired or semi-retired.

    3. Submit the formal application.
