Justification:
Statement of Purpose: The Management and Supervisory Development associate degree program prepares
experienced workers for entry into management or supervisory occupations in a variety of businesses and industries.
Program Objectives: The Management and Supervisory Development associate degree program provides learning
opportunities which introduce, develop, and reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes
required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. Program graduates who are experienced workers are
prepared to perform management and supervisory functions such as employee training, labor relations, employee
evaluation, and employee counseling and disciplinary action. Graduates of the program receive a Management and
Supervisory Development Associate of Applied Technology degree, with an option of a specialization in one of
three areas.
Statement of Need for Program in the Service Area:

services, & trend analysis. If a survey was used to determine local need, please include survey results.)
Human Resource Management - Several members of the Human Resources Council of Hall County requested that
Lanier Technical College add this specialization in order to provide training for Human Resource professionals who
need to upgrade their skills and as a method to train potential new Human Resource employees.
Mining Management - There are 17 rock quarries in Lanier Technical College's service delivery area. Members of
the Georgia Crushed Stone Association requested that Lanier Technical College add this specialization in order to
provide training for mining professionals who need to upgrade their skills and as a method to train potential new
mining employees.
Service Sector Management - With the influx of people into the area, there has been a steady and significant
increase in service sector positions without a corresponding method to train service sector managers. Many
employers in the area have informally requested that Lanier Technical College add this specialization.
