Energy being more and more a global industry, the program adopts an international approach, building on a collaboration between Russia and Norway through two of their committet institutions: MGIMO University in Moscow and the Bodø Graduate School of Business in Bodø, Norway. In recent years, the field of energy management has become dauntingly complex. It must now deal with different energy sources (hydrocarbons, wind, hydropower, tides, etc.), energy carriers (gas, electricity, heat, hydrogen, etc.), and even different transport solutions, all of which interrelate and form multiple options for business development. Our program addresses these many options and provides deep insight into oil, gas and energy sector in both Norway and Russia. • •

What makes us unique?
• A global perspective, with special attention to the Barents region. First-hand exposure to government, business, and academic institutions in both Norway and Russia. An innovative, integrated curriculum offering a comprehensive look at the driving forces in the energy business—economics, technology, environment, and politics. Until now, the energy sector has lacked a career path that exposed professionals to a comprehensive view of the energy industry. The Executive MBA progam in Energy Management is designed to meet this gap. The five sessions provide an exceptionally well-rounded view of the entire industry. • Russians and Norwegians will study together to build networks across the borders and to achieve global leadership competence. • A unique modular structure that lets students study even while continuing to work in demanding jobs.
Flexibility is maximized through a dynamic format that blends the best aspects of traditional classroom teaching with study trips, seminars, and case studies. The program is organized in modules, offered in both Russia and Norway. Their chief goals are (1) to expose students to a wide range of energy issues and information, and (2) to enable them to build fruitful networks within the industry and the institutions in both countries. Energy issues are explored through three main dimensions: ENVIRONMENT

Good business thrives on relationships and teambuilding. That is why we create a collegial environment that emphasizes teamwork, diversity, and dynamic learning. In this program, students work together, learning to make the best use of each other’s diverse experience, talents, and backgrounds. Coming from different countries, students gain insight into comparative energy operations and enables them to exchange experiences by function and area. In today’s network economy, who you know or can reach out to is often just as important as what you know. As part of a network uniting professionals from different companies worldwide, you will benefit not only from industry-relevant courses but from your new acquaintances, too! Because the modules incorporate group activities and social events, they create the platform for close cooperation and teamwork, all of which builds friendship and networks.
Target group and candidate qualifications
The target group consists of persons with curiosity within the energy sector. They have managerial ambitions, but not necessarily only in the administrative direction. The idea is to give the students a formal basis to manage enterprises, units, and projects in a complex business with changing and uncertain frame conditions. The target group includes people with different backgrounds from technology, social sciences, law, economics. and management, who would like to strengthen their competence in energy management subjects. Candidates should have at least two years’ work experience, proven academic reliability, a bachelor degree or better, and, preferably, an international orientation illustrated by competence in foreign languages. Candidates are evaluated by their achievements and their potential, but also by how well their career aspirations match up with what the executive MBA Program has to offer.
