Mr. Martin Ross
Director of Human Resources
New Venture, Inc.
600 Wilson Plaza
Redding, New York 10455

Dear Mr. Ross:

Thank you for the opportunity to discuss your opening for an auditor. I enjoyed meeting
both you and Barbara Jones and learning more about New Venture, its current programs
and upcoming projects.

I was particularly impressed with New Venture’s strong commitment to innovation and
employee satisfaction and productivity. Your new volunteer program is a creative
example of your company’s belief that corporations should be vitally connected to their
communities - a sentiment I wholeheartedly support. I would welcome the opportunity to
be a part of this culture and work at your company.

I believe that my academic training at Flagler College and my experience working in the
accounting department at LYP Jeans Company last summer qualify me for the position.
In addition, my extensive knowledge of computer systems would be especially valuable
as an auditor with your company.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. In the meantime, please call me if I can provide
more information or answer any additional questions.

Sincerely,

Dustin J. Powers

Education

Mr. Robert Jeffers
Virginia County Department of Education
P.O. Box 333
Richmond, VA 25453

Dear Mr. Jeffers,

I appreciated the chance to speak with you last Tuesday. The tour of Friends Secondary
helped me gain a fuller sense of the school’s purpose. It seems to be a fun yet educational
environment with a diverse student body.

As we had discussed, I would also enjoy volunteer coaching with the school’s cross-
country and track teams while working in the art department. I spoke with Coach Dan
Carter on Monday, and he told me about the teams and his coaching philosophy. I found
that I respect his views on balancing competition with cooperation in a Quaker-affiliated
athletic team.

As you said, it is often a challenge to work with students and staff of diverse interests. I
would strive to encourage individuals’ creative inspiration, while maintaining a
consistent itinerary of basic programs, such as the after-school child care program.

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me. I look forward to a call from you next
week. I am usually home after 5 p.m. every day during the week.

Sincerely,

J. Edward Wilson
