Restrictions on Writing Credit Writing credit of 2.00 hours mandatory CLE credit for each 2,000 words of original text (maximum 20.0 hours credit) will NOT be approved if any of the following apply: (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g) Article/Book was less than 2,000 words in length; Article/Book was neither published by nor accepted for publication by a professional book publication company or professional law journal; Article/Book is a rewrite/revision and in the Commission's judgment, the rewrite or revision was not "substantial;" Applicant's assistance in the writing of Article/Book did not contribute substantially to the Article/Book; Applicant (or company, firm, etc.) received, or will receive in the future, payment or honorarium for the Article/Book of more than $500.00; Article/Book was any part of a publication sponsored by the applicant's firm, company, etc.; or Application was not submitted within 1 year of date Article/Book was published.
In cases in which more than one attorney contributes substantially to the writing of the Article/Book, credit will be apportioned among all who assisted in the writing. Writing credit for rewrites/revisions is not authorized unless the rewrite/revision is "substantial." [NOTE : The Commission's decision on whether a rewrite/revision is "substantial" is final.]
