Location of Incident: 600 Block of Crouch Avenue, Chico

Date/Time of Arrest: 2-5-2011      Approx. 1130 hours

Incident Case Number: 11-0809

Victim: Jose Barajas Sanchez (21 years)

Suspect:       #1. Antonio Montes Linares (19 years)
               #2. Timothy Miles Nunez (18 years)

This press release is an update to the press release sent out on Feb. 4, 2011.
        On 2-3-11 a burned human body was located under a Crouch Avenue bridge in Chico.
Detectives from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office and Chico PD responded and determined the
body was that of Jose Sanchez. The day before Mr. Sanchez had been reported as a missing
person to the Chico Police Dept. The body had been placed under the bridge and burned. Chico
Police Detectives immediately began a homicide investigation. This investigation led the
detectives to identify Antonio Montes Linares and Timothy Miles Nunez as being suspects in
murder of Mr. Sanchez. Arrest warrants were obtained for both. Through investigation we
suspected that both suspects had fled to an address in the City of Gilroy, CA.
        Gilroy Police Department was notified and were eager to assist. They confirmed that the
suspects were in a residence on Monterey Street in Gilroy. Due to the dangerous nature of this
crime, the Gilroy/Morgan Hill Regional SWAT Team was called in and set up on the residence.
They were able to arrest both suspects without further incident.
        This incident is still under investigation and further details will not be released at this
time. We are actively searching for any other witnesses to this crime. Anyone with information
