Adopter Recruitment and National Adoption Week
A development grant has enabled us to have Andy White as our Adopter Recruitment Coordinator
on a part-time, one year basis. This role is distinct and separate from that of the social work team,
and Andy also continues his Triathlon fund-raising work on a voluntary basis.

The idea is to raise awareness of CCS and to encourage people to consider adoption. To find those
people with the unique qualities needed to be adoptive parents is a big challenge. This can be
done in various ways, for example through the media, events, and by word of mouth.

We would welcome ideas and offers of help, so if you feel you can contribute in any way,
please contact Andy via CCS, by e-mail andy.white@ccsadoption.org, or on 07971 544709.

CCS is making the most of National Adoption Week (10th to 16th November)
with media activity, and a photocall with Bristol Rugby.
We are also highlighting the availability each day of an experienced Adoption Worker, who can
discuss what’s involved by phone, or arrange an informal meeting.

                                     CCS Sponsored Triathlons

Congratulations to our twenty triathletes who took part in either (or both!)
                                 the Malmesbury or Warwick Triathlons.

Each person made a special effort to train, take part and raise money for CCS. Despite a less than
favourable economic climate, we have raised almost £ 4000 including gift aid.

You can still donate by visiting http://www.justgiving.com/ccstriathletes2008 .
There will be more photos from both events appearing at http://www.ccstriathletes.org.uk/
                                      within the next few days.

Recipes for our Family Favourites Cook Book

Thank you to everyone who has sent in recipes so far.
We have a nice range of sweet and savoury dishes, we just need some more!

With Christmas just around the corner we are all starting to think about
special meals and edible treats to come.

Each year at the picnic there is a wonderful selection of cakes at tea
time, so we know there are some good cooks around.

Why not jot down something that is special in your family and send it in to share with us all?

We will go on collecting recipes until we have a good selection of favourites, but please do not
delay too long to share yours. Sent them in today.

Send a copy of your recipes, as many as you like, for savoury, sweet or
anything else, by post or email,
                               to donna.sarling@ccsadoption.org at CCS.
We will put them into a booklet which will then be
available to buy. The money raised will go to CCS.

If you have a picture or a drawing of your dish please send that too, though we are
not sure at this stage how we will include them.
Remember to tell us your name and age.

                                              G.P to G.P Service
There is a G.P to G.P service available through the GRO (General Registry Office)
which provides for information to be passed from one Doctor to another
in the event of a child being ill where information about the birth family medical history could be
helpful in treating the condition or it is thought to be a hereditary issue.

For more information contact your support worker
or the duty social worker who is available every afternoon 12noon-5pm.

                                               Christmas Cards

Have you placed your order for Christmas cards?
You should have received a brochure in the post, if you would like to make an order
please contact Bobbie Sweeney or Sarah Hennessey on 08451 220077.
When you buy these cards, you are making a direct donation
towards the society’s work and showing your support for children in need.

                                       www.charityflowers.co.uk

An Employee of CCS Adoption who has recently used charity flowers wrote:

“I recently wanted to say a big thank you to my parents for housesitting and dogsitting
whilst we were away on holiday and decided to send them a
bouquet of flowers through Charity Flowers.

I found the website easy to use and there was a good selection of bouquets
ranging from around £12.99 up to £21.99 and this included delivery.

I ordered my flowers and made a donation to CCS which is done at the end of the transaction.

The next day my parents received a lovely bouquet of flowers which they were thrilled with.

I would have no hesitation in using them again as I felt they were value for money
and it was great being able to donate 15% to CCS Adoption”.
