Description: Gifts to charitable or educational institutions may provide tax advantages to individuals and corporations in the form of itemized deductions in computing taxable income. In addition, gifts to qualified charitable organizations and to charitable trusts are deducted from the total amount of gifts made by a taxpayer in determining his or her taxable gifts, for gift tax purposes, for a particular year. Gifts qualify as deductible charitable contributions only if made to, or for the use of, certain organizations.
