A leisurely beach ride to coincide with a 2.56 pm low tide on that day. Ride ‘6’ complements this ride as
a return leg. Brief coffee break (15-20 min.) if time permits, prior to return. This is a flat ride that favours
fat tyres. Be prepared for wet feet. Please note riding on the beach is fun but salt & sand unfriendly to
moving parts. Older, less valuable mountain bikes are perfect for the task. It’s recommended that bikes
should be washed down and lubricated ASAP afterwards. We don’t recommend bringing your expensive,
shiny ‘pride and joy’ on this ride.

COINCIDING EVENTS

Sunday 17th September
10.00 am Meet at “Peace Pole park” at Byron's Main Beach under the ‘Byron
Shire BUG’ banner to take part in the Peace Parade.
Lets congregate as the community of local cyclists to celebrate the diversity
and humour of genuinely ‘green’, environmentally- peaceful bicycle users in
our traffic-congested town.
This is an opportunity to dress up and have fun as a cycling community astride your trusty one, two
or three-wheeled ‘steed’, if you feel the inclination. All welcome, but particularly the:
       • Lycra- clad racers, • MTB downhillers and freestylers
       • BMX bandits, • Fluorescent-jacketed commuters
       • Kids on training wheels • Dudes on cruisers
       • Fetishists on recumbents • Clowns on unicycles
       • Fully loaded cycle-tourists • Backpackers on hire-bikes
       • Locals on… bikes?
…who together make up the colourful fraternity of pedal-powered people in Byron Shire calling for
safe and peaceful alternatives to conventional fuel-frenzied road use, and just want to get together
and have a good time!

11.30 am onwards. Come and visit the BUG stall at the Peace Carnival in Butler Street Reserve.
       • Get ‘the BUG’. Find out what your local representative of the
national network of community cycling organizations is about!
       • Join the BUG.
