      COMMON ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION (for all positions)
       Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in biology or other natural,
       physical or applied science with specialization in a field related to the duties of the
       position.


Experience
COMMON ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION (for all positions)
Experience:
- Experience working collaboratively with government or non-government organizations
on natural resource or environmental management issues.

SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (for the Species at Risk Biologist positions)
Experience:
- Experience in the conservation and recovery of aquatic species at risk.
- Experience writing and editing science-based documents for public distribution.
- Experience consulting stakeholders or the public on environmental or natural resource
management issues.
- Experience participating in multi-disciplinary working groups.

SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (for the Oceans Management Biologist positions)
Experience:
- Experience in oceans and coastal planning and management or marine protected area
and conservation planning and management.
- Experience writing and editing science-based documents for public distribution.
- Experience participating in multi-disciplinary working groups.

SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (for the Habitat Management Biologist positions)
Experience:
- Experience in fish habitat management.
- Experience in environment assessment.
- Experience consulting stakeholders or the public on environmental or natural resource
management issues.


Other Merit Criteria and Conditions of Employment
Candidates must meet all of the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position. A
candidate may be appointed to a position even though he/she does not meet any or all of
the asset qualifications or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is
desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

      COMMON ASSET QUALIFICATIONS (for all positions)
       Education:
       - Graduation with a Master's degree or diploma from an Environmental Technical
       Program or Marine Geomatics or other acceptable type of post-secondary program
       relevant to the duties of the position.
       Experience:
       - Experience negotiating agreements with either stakeholders or project
       proponents.
       - Experience using the techniques and methods employed in biological studies and
       habitat evaluations or for integrated management.
       - Experience planning and implementing co-operative projects related to either
       marine or freshwater ecosystems planning and management.
       - Experience applying regulatory or approval processes.
       - Experience leading multi-disciplinary working groups.
      CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT (for all positions)
       - Reliability Security Clearance.
       - Valid motor vehicle driver's license or mobility to the extent of the possession of
       a valid driver's license.

Successful candidate(s) must meet and maintain the Conditions of Employment
throughout their employment.
