Cork is a newly launched community publishing website for Ireland. The site enables
people and groups to publish & communicate using a variety of tools such as blogs, SMS,
events and email.
As development manager I am responsible for the entire software development and support
effort and have been involved in the project from initial requirements gathering through to
product launch.

Snapon Inc. is a fortune 500 company employing 14,000 people worldwide. It is comprised of
several business units and brands and has a number of engineering, manufacturing, sales
and administration facilities located throughout the world.
As e-Business Manager for Europe and Asia I was responsible for working with business
units and functional groups to understand requirements, provide direction and manage the
implementation of Internet and e-business related projects. I successfully delivered many
Internet based solutions, including

      B2B Websites complete with full ERP integration.

The role also involved the day-to-day management of the eCommerce development group in
Cork including budgeting and employee management.
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer I was a member of Snapons Global Web Council,
which defines the company’s long-range Internet strategy and had overall responsibility for
implementing that strategy across Europe and Asia.

Training & Consultancy Manager                                 March 97 – August 99

As Training & Consultancy Manager I was responsible for the provision of those services
across Europe and Asia. As Pervasive produce a database, which is embedded into
thousands of applications by software partners, our clients included those software partners
and their customers. These included large financial institutions, airlines and other similar
organisations running mission critical applications.
The role also involved providing technical backup for the partners and sales managers and I
regularly gave technical presentations to audiences of up to 200 people during product road

Premium Support Engineer                                       March 96 – March 97

Corel is best known for its Corel Draw and WordPerfect suite of products. Working as part of
the Premium Support Group for WordPerfect I was responsible for providing consultancy and
high-level support to Premium customers. The role involved handling day-to-day support
issues as well as investigating and documenting issues for developers as well as developing
workarounds and fixes for customers and front line support staff.

During this period I worked on a number of short term contracts involving PC and Network
installation and commissioning.

Software Engineer                                              March 94 – June 95

Developing in FoxPro I was part of a small team developing software solutions for the
pharmaceuticals industry. Products included software for managing calibration of equipment
and software for managing validation processes. Each product is currently used by several
pharmaceutical companies across Ireland and the United States. I was involved in the
complete software development life cycle and was team lead for the validation product.

Instrumentation Engineer                                      May 92 – June 93
Project Management

Working as part of the instrumentation department I carried out a variety of tasks, which
included AutoCAD drafting, schedule management and validation & commissioning. The
majority of projects were located on client sites on a contract basis.
