-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Westmeath Community Development, acting as the Irish partner in the EU BIOREGIONS
project, would like to invite all stakeholders, agencies, organisations and persons active or
interested in the development of Bioenergy / Biomass to attend and particpate in a morning
seminar and an afternoon workshop on the development of a regional Bioenergy industry in
County Westmeath and the wider Midlands Region.

BIOREGIONS is an EU project, funded by Intelligent Energy Europe 2009, which aims to
support the development of local / regional bioenergy markets in a number of ‘Target Regions’,
including Co Westmeath. In additon to reduction in carbon this transition to local and regional
bioenergy markets, is seen as having potential for a significant impact on the local economy
and important job creation potential.

The conference will present the objectives of the BIOREGIONS project, a vision for a
‘Bioenergy Region’ in the Midlands and will bring together leading experts and key agencies in
the field to inform and engage various stakeholders along the supply chain from growers,
processors, technology providers, suppliers and potential users as well as ancillary agencies
and organisations. Opportunity will be provided in the afternoon session for consultation ,
discussion, questions, feedback and debate.
