NOTE: The data for the UK includes the original BHPS sample (representative of the whole population) along with the ECHP sub-sample (over sample of lower income households
and individuals) and the new extension samples in Scotland and Wales. In the unweighted sample there are around 2.5 times as many enumerated individuals in Scotland as would
be expected from population distribution and around four times as many in Wales. LWS provides two weights: one for the original BHPS sample (WGT) to allow comparability with
previous waves and studies (e.g. Banks (2002)) and a second, for the original and additional samples (WGT2). The UK or GB analysis must be weighted by WGT or WGT2 if biases are
not to arise.
NOTE EXTRA VARIABLES: As a supplement to the dataset we have included VHnet and a second weight variable (WGT2-see NOTE above). Additionally, there are
two indicator and eleven flag variables that are listed at the end of this worksheet: DIR DVhnet FDA FRA FPR FIR FVhnet FHSD FINH1 FNHD FHSXP FEQUIPXP
