MORE NEWS – CELEBRATING OUR COMMUNITIES – CAN YOU COME ALONG AND
HELP?
The Lewisham Time Bank Network is launching a strategy for time banks in Lewisham. They
have produced an impressive brochure and are organising a ‘Celebrating our Communities’
day on July the 10th at the Civic Suite in the Town hall. On this special day will be invited the
Mayor and dignitaries and also the person who started time banks, Edgar Cahn. Three
people in our time bank have met him before and think he is fantastically inspirational. So
don’t miss the chance to hear him speak. We are to have a stall on this day and need the
help of members to take over shifts on the stall.
We want Lee Fair Share to put on a good show. We are hopefully to have children from Lee
Manor School to illustrate our help at their environment club and also Northbrook School who
will bring along their choir. It won’t be too taxing and should be fun.

You are also invited. Read below what’s to happen on the day. You can just pop in for a few
minutes for lunch if you want to. You will see a booking form at the end of the newsletter. If
you want to come let Maria know soon.

MORE NEWS – MANOR HOUSE LIBRARY
Our wonderful new Library has opened at the Manor House site in the local park. As has
been mentioned before for those members who want to learn basic computer skills will go

requirements to get on-line. The library has a whole stack of new computers that we can use.
We can also take advantage of their amazing newly refurbished meeting rooms to hold our
events, maybe we could hold our Christmas do there!

In exchange they would love for any members with transferable skills to hold one-off master
classes. They are very keen for the library to be used by the community and maybe we can
help draw them in. Maria will be phoning some members to ask them if they are willing to take
part.

MORE NEWS – LEE FAIR SHARE CONSULTATION
We are very grateful to all those members who took the time to participate in the Lee Fair
Share consultation.

Attached is the Report and below the actions that will be implemented, after all your proposals
have been taken into account.

Some members thought it a good idea that we published names, skills offered, e mail
addresses and telephone numbers for those members who want to swap skills amongst
themselves. This way you can see what is on offer, and by whom, without going through the
broker. If you want to be put on the list so that you can make your own arrangements, you will
need to contact Maria. However if you want to carry on as before you need not do anything.

Sometimes it is necessary to phone around members for various reasons such as ask you to
come to an event. So that members can participate more in the running of the Time Bank we
will ask members to do the phoning. This is a common practice in most Time Banks. These
willing members will have access to your phone number. If you do not want your numbers to
be given to members please let us know.

We are planning the following social events:

A sea side trip in early September
Fruit picking in Kent
A picnic in the local park
An art club
