This course will prepare students to become expert witnesses within their professional fields. The course provides opportunities
to participate in related activities within a court setting and will be taught by appropriately qualified personnel from within the
field of law. Students will be supported through their learning using experiential techniques within a court room setting.

                                    The course aims to equip health professionals with the requisite knowledge and skills to
                                    become expert witnesses and issues addressed will include:

                                           Important aspects of the Laws of Contract and Tort
                                           Rules of civil procedure
                                           Report writing
                                           Giving evidence in court
                                           Skills in cross examination

                                    Specific entry criteria
                                    A first degree in a related discipline, or evidence of equivalent professional/academic
                                    experience. Two years experience within a relevant field of practice preferred.

                                                      (10:00 – 17:00)

                                    Study Route       This module can be undertaken independently or can form part of a Masters
                                                      programme offered by the School of Postgraduate Medicine or other
                                                      postgraduate programmes in the Faculty of Health and Human Science.
