              ESL INSTRUCTIONAL INTERVENTIONIST
                    CURRICULUM COMPLIANCE
(STAFFING OF THIS POSITION CONTINGENT UPON THE AVAILABILITY OF
                        FEDERAL FUNDS)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
   Bachelor's Degree
   Masters Degree a plus
   Minimum five (5) years classroom teaching
    experience/related experience and/or training; or equivalent
    combination of education and experience
   Valid Texas Teacher Certification by the State Board
   Valid ESL Teacher Endorsement by the State Board
   Valid Texas Drivers License with driving record that meets
    the requirements of the District

MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

   Provides leadership for campus personnel to ensure a
    consistent and effective English language acquisition program
   Works collaboratively with the Director for English Language
    Learner Programs and campus personnel to promote and
    facilitate the use of best teaching practices, including Sheltered
    Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP)
   Coaches teachers serving ESL students in the implementation
    of research-based strategies, interventions, and required
    linguistic accommodations for all students participating in the
    ESL program
   Collaboratively plans, presents, and evaluates on-going ELL
    staff development, workshops, and seminars in second
    language acquisition for secondary teachers and administrators
   Monitors LEP students' achievement by reviewing and
    analyzing benchmark assessments, common assessments,
    and state testing data, and presents information to the
    appropriate staff members
        Designs and presents sample ESL modules and lesson plans
         for teachers of ELL students
        Ensures all state and federal guidelines for ELL students are
         met
        Facilitates vertical articulation regarding the secondary ESL
         Program
        Demonstrates a knowledge of the ESL TEKS
        Supports campus leadership in goal setting, including assisting
         with district and campus instructional plans
        Models the use of data to drive instructional decisions,
         including the use of the district data management system
        Uses student achievement data to determine the scope of work
         with specific campuses
        Assists in the development of formative and summative
         assessments including benchmarks and common assessments
        Performs model teaching within the classrooms focusing on
         best practices, including SIOP
        Facilitates and participates in curriculum development and
         assists in textbook and instructional materials review
        Collaborates with district personnel to facilitate the integration
         of emerging technologies in ESL programs
        Fosters and promotes collegiality and team building throughout
         the community
        Works cooperatively with the Division of Instruction to improve
         student achievement
        Commits to continued professional growth by participating in
         professional development, book studies, and by participating in
         professional organizations concerned with ESL programs
        Provides professional development outside of the regularly
         scheduled workday, including Saturdays
        Effectively manages personal time, including maintaining a
         daily log of activities
        Reports to work every day
        Other duties as may be assigned

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    SALARY: $51,246-$62,878 PAY GRADE: A3
    WORK DAYS: ELEVEN MONTHS
