SPEED NETWORKING EXCHANGE JUNE 9TH 2009 WHAT HAPPENS? When you arrive, you will be given a sticky name badge with your name. You will assigned to a group A,B,C or D, you will also be assigned a number. The first person to arrive on the evening will be A1, the second, B1, the third C1, the fourth will be D1. The fifth person to arrive will be A2, the sixth B2… and so on until 7pm when the speed networking will commence. ROUND 1. • • • Group A will be stationed at the far end of the bar in a line or a circle in number order. They will be joined by Group B. To commence B will find A1, B2 will find A2 and so on. Groups C will be stationed at the front end of the bar and joined by Group D in a similar fashion. At 7pm A1 and B1, A2 and B2 etc etc, have 4 (FOUR !!) minutes to network. At the end of 4 (FOUR!) minutes, Group B members move CLOCKWISE to the next person. A1 will network with B2, A2 with B3 etc etc. Same for C and D with Group D moving CLOCKWISE. When all of the group A(C) have networked with all of B(D) -> Round 2 • • ROUND 2 • • • • • Group A remains where they are Group D remains where they are Group C joins Group A Group B joins Group D Then as before with 4 (FOUR!) minutes each meeting ROUND 3 • • • • Group A remains where they are Group D joins group A Group C joins Group B Re-commence ROUND 4 • • The final round is where Group A meet themselves, Group B with themselves, C and D likewise. Again 4 minutes (FOUR!) each meeting. WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE? For each meeting you will have just 2 (TWO!) minutes for your side. This works well if you have a prepared ‘elevator pitch’ that includes: 1. 2. 3. About yourself About your company What you are looking to get out of the event Some attendees may also to summarise this on paper and present each attendee with a copy as they meet them. If you have them its always a good idea to bring plenty of business cards with you to distribute during the event. WHAT TO BRING? • • Business cards (recommend that you have enough to give everyone else 3 (THREE!) cards. One for themselves, and two to pass onto potential new contacts/business/associates. Bring a paper pad and pen to take notes. REMEMBER THE UNDERLYING PHILOSOPHY OF THIS NETWORKING GROUP IS “GIVERS GAIN!” YOU NETWORK WITH OTHERS TO FIND OUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THEM! Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday 9 June. Please be prompt. th
