How We Delivered
At the start of the project, Dimension Data Another benefit of the bandwidth optimisation solution
investigated the different products in the market. “We is that it allows Dimension Data to grow geographically

from Packeteer. “Both Cisco and Packeteer are
recognised as leading vendors in this space and
Dimension Data has global partnerships with them.
Hence our choice to implement these technologies to
solve our needs,” says Jeff Jack, General Manager for

the regional centres where the solution was required.
An experienced project management team ensured
that the scheduled downtime did not affect employees’
productivity.

Du Plooy says, “With this solution, we are able to
provide a better experience to our users while not
having to significantly increase very limited and
expensive bandwidth. This solution has also given us
about 30% more bandwidth and allowed us to make
sure that every application gets its fair share of the
available bandwidth over the WAN links.”

Value Derived
Jack says that Dimension Data needs to be a living
demonstration of the message that they take to
market. “As a well-established systems integrator
operating in 36 countries worldwide, we need to be
able to provide the services that we talk to our clients
about, such as Integrated Collaboration, to our internal
users across the continent. For this, we need sufficient
bandwidth.”
