              HEADQUARTERS/UNIT: ISAF IJC/CJPOTF
      LOCATION: Kabul, Afghanistan – Also Duty Travel to Provinces
             JOB TITLE: Video Technician Audio & Lights
                           GRADE: LCH 6
             START OF CONTRACT: As soon as possible




                               PART 2 – DUTIES

A. Post Context:

General: The CJPOTF is the sole asset of IJC to directly communicate to the
local population through organic mass media. It forms the centre of gravity of the
ISAF information effort towards the population within the ISAF AOO’s. The
CJPOTF’s task is to influence and to inform specific target audiences approved
by the NAC and explains ISAF’s mission and activities to a broad public.
Furthermore, it creates a supportive atmosphere for the conduct of military
operations under the ISAF mandate. The Video Technician ensures that light and
sound are optimised for filming by the video camera operator in order to get the
best capture.

B. Reports To: Chief TV Group & Producer

C. Principal Duties:
Arranges light and sound for camera operator
Assists with editing as required
Carries out all routine maintenance of light and sound equipment
Logs raw vision and maintains video archive
Travels to ISAF Area of Operations in Afghanistan

D. Additional Duties:
The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as may be
directed. If needed the personnel will be deployed within all ISAF Area of
Operations.

                          PART 3- QUALIFICATIONS


A. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Professional Experience
Experience with standard lighting kits
Experience with a variety of microphones and sound equipment
2. Education / Training:
Higher Secondary
Attended course(s) in area of Media Technician
Practical experience as an Audio Technician, lights

3. Security Clearance:
The individual must agree to undergo an interview with ISAF Security Section.
National Afghan authorities will be approached to obtain additional information.
Previous links with AQ, TB, and other opposing militia forces, or a previous
criminal record, will not be accepted.

4. Language:
English SLP 2222
Dari/Pashtu SLP 3232
The normal everyday working language of the organisation is English

5. Standard Automated Data Processing (ADP) Knowledge:
    Word Perfect:          Basic Knowledge
    Spreadsheet:           Basic Knowledge
    Graphics Presentation: Basic Knowledge

B. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Professional:
Experience in fieldwork
Experience as a camera/video person
Working knowledge of Video Editing

2. Education/Training:
Completed course and obtained certificate in Avid

3. Language:
English SLP 3333
Dari/Pashtu SLP 3333

Afghanistan.

Afghanistan.

2. Contribution to Objectives
Will have a direct and immediate impact on the accuracy and quality of all
PSYOPS products
The individual’s creativity will result in good products in order to meet the desired
PSYOPS effects
3. Work Environment:
Military peace support operation (PSO) under Chapter VII of the UN Charter in a
least developed country.
Office is based in a military installation at Kabul, Afghanistan.
Frequent field work across Afghanistan (Provinces, PRT’s, Kinetic and non
kinetic environments)
Taking the current situation in Afghanistan into account, candidate must be
prepared to work under threat conditions

D. REMARKS:

The successful candidate will need to be prepared to go through Biometric
Testing (Eye scans/finger prints ect) a Security Vetting Interview, English/Dari &
Pashtu language tests and a medical exam before they will be offered an
employment contract.
Contract is for 12 months with possible extension
LCH 6 Salary is 576 Euros per month with 100 Euros meal allowance
