Back to School Day – Friday February 4th
Friday 4th Feb is the first day of Term 1 2011.
We would like to make this day a more informal, friendly ‘starter’ day for the year,
involving parents, caregivers and families, as well as staff and students.
Outline for the day:
9-12.30pm: Class time. Students will spend this time in their new class, getting
to know their new teacher/s and other students in their class, starting to set up
class routines and expectations.
12.30-1.30pm: Lunch. We invite any parents/caregivers/family and friends to join
us at school for lunch. Have a picnic with your child/children on the middle pitch,
come and join in with a game etc. Our fundraising team will be on site with a
sausage sizzle and selling ice blocks. Feel free to join us at any point during
1.30-2 pm: School gathering. Jacinta Simpson will introduce herself as our new
school principal, and will also introduce the rest of the staff. An outline of the
school learning teams/names/locations will be given, as well as other information
about the school year.
2-3pm: School walkabout. Time to drop into your child/children’s classes,
introduce yourself to their teachers, drop off any stationery for the year. Students
will be in class completing independent activities at this time. There will be sign
up lists in classes for you to complete at this time: class email lists/class contact
lists/signing up to help with fundraising or the ‘Our Place Your Place’ environment
team. Once you have done all of this you will be welcome to take your
child/children home slightly early, please make sure you sign your child/children
out from their classrooms.
*Students will not be expected to start the day with stationery. All stationery
orders can be placed at the office ahead of time and picked up at any point
during the ‘Back to School’ day. You can then drop it off in your child’s class in
