SENIOR MANAGER – TALENT MANAGEMENT
As a result of its increased discipline and focus on talent management (TM), the Talent
Management organization at Saks Fifth Avenue has an immediate opening for a Senior Manager,
Talent Management position. This position will be located in New York City and will report
directly to the Senior Director, Talent Management. This newly created position will play a
pivotal role in helping to drive various aspects of Saks’ TM platform, which will propel Saks
Fifth Avenue into a state-of-the-art TM organization.
This role is accountable for delivering exceptional results associated with the design and
execution of TM tools, processes, and initiatives that support Saks’ mission to become a high
performance culture. The incumbent will be responsible for helping to drive: talent stewardship
initiatives, talent reviews, employee engagement, performance management, succession
planning, competency modeling, employment value proposition research, and aspects of
diversity analysis. A major focus of this position will be to help integrate various components of
Saks’ talent management platform. The primary responsibilities of this position will focus on 5
I. TALENT REVIEW PROCESS
Enhance the tools and processes used to support Saks’ Talent Review initiatives– which
include the accurate identification of high potential talent, critical positions, A players, and
retention risk assessment, and succession plans for critical positions.
Analyze and synthesize data from talent review sessions into meaningful conclusions that
enhance fact-based talent decision-making; report key talent metrics.
Manage post-talent review processes that ensure proper follow through of actions determined
at talent review sessions.
Coordinate quarterly functional talent review meetings that foster talent sharing between
various divisions; establish processes that ensure appropriate follow-through on decisions.
Support the migration of talent review data to a state-of- the- art web enabled platform that
vastly improves and expedites talent decision making.
II. LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Manage and develop programs that support the development of high potential associates that
are identified through Saks’ Talent Review process; (e.g. mentoring, action learning, 360
feedback, CEO Forum, etc.)
III. EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT SURVEY
Manage the end to end execution of the Saks High Performance Culture Survey – including
vendor management, data analysis and interpretation, and action planning follow-up.
IV. PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
Manage the process and tools associated with Saks’ newly enhanced performance
management model, which measures Associate performance against both the achievement of
business objectives and high performance culture objectives.
V. EMPLOYMENT VALUE PROPOSITION (EVP)_
Support the implementation of various research methods that enable Saks’ to better
understand and communicate a compelling and differentiated EVP. Research methods may
include, but are not limited to: Job Decline and Acceptance Interviews, Exit Interviews,
Focus Groups, surveys, etc.
Bachelor degree required. Masters degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or
related discipline is preferred. MBA is also desirable.
5-8 years of related experience, preferably in a talent management /Center of
Excellent project management skills, strategic thinking, and tactical implementation
Strong data analysis and interpretation skills (ability to translate data into
Excellent problem solving ability.
Excellent verbal and written skills.
High proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, macros, ability to manipulate and sort a large
amount of data.
Excellent PowerPoint skills– ability to develop graphically appealing and compelling
Detail oriented, resourceful, able to multi-task.
Strong follow-up ability.
Strong learning agility and intellectual curiosity for how things work.
