2009 - 2010

Class start and end dates may differ for students enrolled in limited enrolment programs.
Please confirm dates with the appropriate program office.


Any changes in the Proposed Calendar of Events will be announced in the Inside, the
Registration Guide, on the WEB



               SUMMER SEMESTER 2009 (MAY - AUGUST)
               Withdrawal and refund deadline dates only apply to courses that are 15 weeks in
               length (comprising instruction and final exams). Course deadline dates, where the
               course is less than a full semester in length will be pro-rated. Some courses of less
               than 15 weeks are not eligible for any refund. (See Refund Schedule).



               May 1            Apply for bursaries administered by Douglas College for Summer
                                semester only.
                                Contact the Financial Aid Office for schedule of Fall Student Loan
                                Workshops.
                                Deadline for Douglas College entrance scholarship applications for
                                2009-2010.
                                Deadline for application for graduation awards for February and June
                                Graduations.
                                Deadline for nominations for George Wootton Scholarship. See
                                Graduation Award listing for further information.

               May 1-July       Applications or reapplications for Fall for General Admission programs
               15               will be processed but students will receive a late registration
                                appointment time.

               May 4            All classes begin. Late Registration begins.

               May 4-17         Refunds for course drops during this period are 43% per credit.

               May 15           Last day to add a course. Last day to change from credit to audit
                                status in a course.

               May 17           Last day to drop a course without receiving a "W" on record
                                (subsequent withdrawals receive a grade of "W").

               May 18           College Closed - Victoria Day.
May 22          Registrars Office closed - all campuses.

May 31          Deadline for submission of new International student applications for
                the Fall Semester.

June 1          Deadline to apply for transfer credit to ensure credit has been
                recorded to meet course pre-requisites for Fall registration.
                Deadline for Bursary applications administered by Douglas College for
                Summer Semester only.
                Student Loan Applications for Fall available on-line at
                www.bcsap.bc.ca.

June 3 & 4      Summer Graduation Ceremonies.

June 15-20      Mid-semester - students may obtain mid-semester standing from
                instructors during this week in order to make decisions about
                dropping courses by the deadline below.

June 30         Deadline for students placed on academic probation from the Winter
                semester to meet with a Counsellor. Students who do not meet with a
                Counsellor by this date will be unable to access their records or
                register for future semesters.

July 1          College closed – Canada Day.

July 5          Last day to drop a course or completely withdraw from College
                (students will receive a "W" on permanent record).

July 15-Sept    Applications and reapplications for Fall and all documents for General
12              Admission programs must be submitted in-person only. Applicants
                applying or reapplying during this period will receive a registration
                time in the last priority time slots or later.

July 23-Aug     Registration - Fall Semester – by College priority.

Aug 3           College closed - BC Day.

Aug 5           Last day of classes.

Aug 7 - 15      Examination Period.

Aug 12          Grades due for classes without a final exam.

Aug 17          Deadline to pay tuition fees for Fall semester. (Domestic students)

Aug 19          Grades due for classes with a final exam.




FALL SEMESTER 2009 (SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER)
Withdrawal and refund deadline dates only apply to courses that are 15 weeks in
length (comprising instruction and final exams). Deadline dates, where the course is
less than a full semester in length, will be pro-rated. Some courses of less than 15
weeks are not eligible for any refund. (See Refund Schedule).



Sept 1          Apply for Awards & Bursaries administered by Douglas College for Fall
                semester.
                Recommended deadline for applicants submitting foreign documents.
                Documents submitted after this date will be processed but students
                are advised to obtain pre-requisite waivers for courses in which they
                intend to enrol for Winter 2010.

Sept 1-Nov      Applications or reapplications for Winter for General Admission
15              programs will be processed but students will receive a late
                registration appointment time.

Sept 7          College Closed - Labour Day.

Sept 8          All classes begin.
                Late registration begins.

Sept 8 to 20    Course drop refund during this period is 43% per credit.

Sept 19         Last day to add a course.
                Last day to change from credit to audit status in a course.

Sept 20         Last day to drop a course without receiving a "W" on record
                (subsequent withdrawals receive a grade of "W").

Sept 21         Last day to apply for Winter Graduation (February).

Sept 25         Deadline for submission of new International student applications for
                the Winter Semester.

Oct 1           Deadline for Awards & Bursaries application administered by Douglas
                College for Fall Semester.
                Early Deadline for student loan application for
                Winter Semester.
                Deadline to apply for limited enrolment programs for the Winter
                Semester. (See Calendar for specific program deadlines).
                Deadline to apply for transfer credit to ensure credit has been
                recorded to meet course pre-requisites for Winter registration.

Oct 12          College closed - Thanksgiving Day.

Oct 15          First day for submission of applications for students currently
                registered in Grade 12 who will graduate in June 2010.

Oct 19-24       Mid-semester - students may obtain mid-semester standing from
                instructors during this week in order to make decisions about
                dropping courses by the deadline below.

Oct 23          Registrar's Office closed - all campuses.

Oct 31          Deadline for students placed on academic probation from the Summer
                semester to meet with a Counsellor. Students, who do not meet with
                a Counsellor by this date, will be unable to access their records or
                      register for future semesters.

    Nov 8             Last day to drop a course or completely withdraw from the College.
                      (Student will receive a "W" on permanent record).

    Nov 11            College Closed. Remembrance Day.

    Nov 15 - Jan      Applications or reapplications and all documents for General
    16                Admission programs must be submitted in-person only. Applicants
                      applying or reapplying during this period will receive a registration
                      time in the last priority time slots or later. Please note the College
                      closures listed below.

    Nov 12 –          Registration - Winter Semester - By College priority.
    Nov 27

    Dec 8             Last day of classes.

    Dec 10 -18        Examination Period.

    Dec 7             Deadline to pay tuition fees for Winter semester. (Domestic students)

    Dec 8             Registrar's Office closed at 12:30 pm. (Re-open on 9th).

    Dec 18            Grades due for classes without a final exam.

    Dec 22            Grades due for classes with final exams.

    Dec 24-28         College closed.

    Dec 29-30         College closed to the public.

    Dec 31            College closed.




WINTER SEMESTER 2010 (JANUARY - APRIL)

Apr 27            Grades due for classes with a final exam.
