6. AUDIT
Throughout my Surgical Training I have been involved in Audit. I understand its value
in Clinical practice and have used a variety of computer systems available to help
clinical Audit.

1. Structure and process Audit of the treatment of Femoral neck fractures in
   Patients 60 years and over in the Wessex region, A three-month project to
   observe current practice from arrival in the A&E dept to time of Surgery. Oct – Dec
   1994.
2. Audit of Trauma and Emergency cases undertaken between September and
   November 1996, to consider the impact of regular morning Orthopaedic Trauma
   sessions within the 24 Hour NCEPOD Emergency Theatre.
3. Audit of the impact of standing Performa as a guideline, for the utilisation of DVT
   prophylaxis on the Plastic Surgery unit. This was an Anglia regional project
   between Norwich, Cambridge and Stevenage. 1996.

4. Surveillance of Surgical site infection – part of a National Audit on wound
   infection rates by the PHLS Nosocomial Infection Surveillance Unit. Observing all
   wounds in various open procedures with metal implantation and primary closure.
