Local Weight Loss Group Looks to Curb Obesity Trend!
How hard is it to lose weight on your own? You now have the opportunity to do it with
a group of like-minded people. So many people start a weight loss program only to find
that after a few weeks they have gone back to their old habits. Mal and Sue Nicholls
along with their team of wellness coaches have been running Community Weight Loss
Challenges for the last six months in Toowoomba.
The challenge is a 12 week course with educational topics to help people get back to
basic nutrition and lifestyle choices. Participants will learn where to find good sources
of protein and carbohydrates, combat the effects of stress, and learn the importance of
water plus many other interesting topics.
Classes run for approximately 1 hour and while there is no exercise conducted during
the class participants are encouraged to exercise to help maximise their weight loss
throughout the 12 weeks period.
Each participant pays a registration fee of $29 for the entire 12 weeks of which the
majority of money is then awarded back to the participants as cash prizes money to
those who have lost the largest percentage of body weight.
Participants are asked to sign an agreement at the start to attend every meeting and not
put any weight on during the challenge. People are charged a fee of $5 if they miss a
meeting and also $1 per kilo if they gain weight. These fees are added to the prize pool.
The weight loss challenge is run as a non-profit community event aimed at slowing the
rapidly increasing rate of obesity in the Toowoomba and surrounding areas.
The next weight loss challenge starts Tuesday 30th September. For more information or
