Removing the Tail Lights and Rear Bumper This guide illustrates how to remove the tail lights and the rear bumper. The following tools are required for this task: • 10 mm Socket plus extension • 10 mm Spanner • Medium Phillips Head Screwdriver • Medium Flat Head Screwdriver Step 1. Open the boot and remove the Latch cover (shown below). Also remove the boot carpet/mat and the boards that cover the spare tyre and the tool compartments. Step 2. Remove both boot containers. The image below illustrates the location of the screws Step 3. Remove the Trim running along the back of the boot. There are 6 clips and 2 screw out plugs. 3 clips and a plug are shown below. Step 4. Remove the 4 nuts holding in each tail light (shown below). Now disconnect the electrical plug and pull the wires out through the back of the car. You will have to push the rubber grommet through to achieve this. Step 5. Remove the 2 nuts and bolt from both sides of the car as illustrated below. Step 6. Next, remove the 3 clips along the top of the bumper (illustrated below). Step 7. Remove the 2 bolts on each side of the inside of the boot that hold in the bumper sub frame (shown below). Step 8. Remove the bolt on each side of the bumper that attaches the corner to the rear quarter panel (see below). Step 9. Remove the clip that attaches the bumper to the rear guard on each side. This clip is shown below and can either be forced out by levering under it with a flat hear screwdriver or can be removed with the rear wheel off. Step 10. Remove the 2 screws that hold in the number plate (shown below) Step 11. The bumper can now be removed. When re‐assembling, seat all the bolt threads first. I find that if I position the screws mentioned in steps 5 and 7 first, it makes the job a little easier.
