Don’t miss your chance to ask questions of Bob Hook who has been in the Queensland Fire and
Rescue Service for 29 years. In that time he has progressed from an operational firefighter through to
his current position of Manager Building Fire Safety (State). He has been manager of the Building Fire
Safety Section for 10 years and has Graduate Certificates in Building Fire Safety and Applied
Management.
As the Manager Building Fire Safety (State) he is responsible for the management of all building fire
safety training material for the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service. Another responsibility is to act as
a point of contact for industry for information and resolution of problems relating to building fire safety.
He works closely with the Fire Protection Industry Board of Queensland, Fire Protection Association
Australia and the National Fire Industry Association, Queensland. Bob has worked extensively in the
development and review of building fire safety policy and legislation in Queensland and is a member of
Standards Australia technical committees on Passive Fire Protection.
