This does not mean 'service' personnel have to become salespeople. Service and sales is not an 'either/or' state with clear dividing lines. Rather, it can be seen as a continuum along which employees can be encouraged to progress, as they may be in a better position to help the business to recognize and develop sales opportunities than some salespeople. A number of 'stages' can be identified along this continuum.
