     Purpose of the programme:
     Welcome to a time of changing needs and challenges in the Hairdressing Industry. This course
     is for any individual who has made or wishes to make hairdressing their career. The course will
     provide the broad knowledge, skills and values needed in the hairdressing industry. The course
     is designed to develop the foundational, practical and reflexive competencies needed for a
     career in hairdressing.

     With the ever-changing demands of the hairdressing world it’s up to you, as future leaders of
     this Generation, to make the way forward in this exciting and rewarding industry. Your level of
     achievement is entirely up to you. You must decide how much effort you are willing to put in in
     order to achieve the status of “Qualified Professional Hairdresser”. This qualification will give
     the students the key skills essential to be able to function effectively as flexible, adaptable and
     competitive hairdressers and follow a lifelong career in the Hairdressing Profession.

     NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN LADIES’ HAIRDRESSING LEVEL 2 - 4
     Duration:
     3 years full-time

     NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN LADIES’ HAIRDRESSING LEVEL 2 (FIRST YEAR)
     Programme structure:
     •   Salon Support Services
     •   Salon Administration
     •   Hairdressing Communication
     •   Mathematical Literacy
     •   English Communication
     •   Computer Literacy
     •   Life Orientation
     •   Make-up
     •   First Aid
     •   Health and Safety
     •   HIV/AIDS
     •   Salon Practice – College Simulator
     •   In-service Training in Industry
     •   Business Practice

     Admission and certification requirements:
     • Grade 10 passed or Equivalent
     • 16 years or older
     • Must be physically fit
     • Students will be required to complete an assessment to determine level of literacy and
       numeracy and undergo an individual interview process to assess suitability prior to acceptance.
     • Students must have a placement salon to complete workplace training.
     • Students attend College from Monday to Friday but go to the workplace for practical training
       on the respective salon placement days and Saturdays.

FURTHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING CERTIFICATE IN LADIES’
HAIRDRESSING LEVEL 4 (THIRD YEAR)

•   Afrikaans Communication
•   Hair Colouring
•   Chemical Services
•   Business Management
•   Life Orientation

Admission and certification requirements:
• National Certificate Ladies’ Hairdressing Level 3

     Duration:
     3 years part-time

     NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN LADIES’ HAIRDRESSING LEVEL 2 (FIRST YEAR)
     Programme structure:

     •   Business Practice
     •   First Aid

     •   Hairdressing Communication
     •   Make-up
     •   In-service Training in Industry

     Admission and certification requirements:
     • Grade 10 passed or Equivalent

     • Students following the Part-Time Programme will be required to be employed by a Registered
       Salon that has a Qualified Stylist in their employ, to be entered into the Part-Time
       Programme. These students will attend College once a week in Level 2 and 3 and 2 days a
       week in Level 3 and Level 4.

Admission and certification requirements:
• National Certificate in Ladies’ Hairdressing Level 3
• A logbook must be kept as evidence for workplace experience and it is the student’s
  responsibility to ensure that this is updated and signed by the Salon mentor/owner on
  a daily basis.
• Students are required to bring in models/clients for practical lessons and assessments as the
  programme progresses through the year. Each class facilitator will notify you in advance.
• All students must be involved in a minimum of 4 community projects involving practical work
  per annum.
