Midterm Essay

    • Midterm essay is up
       (see “Info” button. Entry 6)
-- Essay length is up to you: can easily be 8-10 pages. More
length is not necessarily better. Try to efficiently answer the
    questions.
(I’ll preview them if you finish early enough)
-- Due on the date of the Midterm
-- Answer only with course material; compose your own work.

Midterm
    • Pushed back to Feb. 8th
(two weeks to do everything: essay and test)
Study Guide

   • Midterm study guide is up
      (see “Info” button. Entry 5)
-- Up to 50% of your in-class exam will come from the study
   guide
-- Study Guide is last year’s midterm
-- Will be given in class on Feb. 8th

Midterm Coverage
   • Will cover everything through Holmes, but not including
Lochner (I’ll explain this when we get there).
-- we are ahead of schedule. May get a free day (we’ll see)
Website
-- Slight problem with “sessions” and “topics”
      • “session” = each time we meet
      • “topic” = How the material naturally organizes
(sometimes, it takes two sessions to cover a topic (e.g.,
      Classical Legal Thought)
-- I’ve re-organized the site so you can pick whatever unit of
   analysis you like

          Topics
                               Segments smaller portions, links

                                                    Clips
                                                        movies?
Wiki

--There was a slight issue with the Wiki that has been fixed.
-- Once you register, I have to approve you to make edits. I
have done that so far for everyone who has registered
--Point: it may take 24 hrs after you register to be able to do
       the Wiki
(Note: Wiki button added to website)
Quality Point Tabulation

-- I will try to get you a quality point tabulation later in the
      week.
Notes

    -- I need a note-taker in this class for a student. I need
someone to volunteer and to have notes ready to be
handed to them after class on Thursday.
I assume the student would arrange to pay for the copying.
(Maybe both of you can go to the copy center)
Whoever the volunteer is, please stay after class.

-- Also, whoever is handing in typed notes please do so by
    Monday.
-- Thursday will be the last lecture covered on the midterm.
Next week begins the material for the final.
Reading

     • Lochner (pay attention to Harlan’s concurring opinion and
     Holmes dissent!)
     • I can’t stress enough the importance of our next lecture.
It’s really the most important lecture of the course. It puts all
of this other stuff into perspective.

     • Brown v. Board of Ed
     • Brandeis Brief
