      domestic currency payments before the adoption of

      19 Romanian banks and 5 branches of foreign banks
      (out of 33 banks and 10 EU banks branches operating
      in Romania) adhered to the SCT scheme – over 90%
      of the total volume of euro payments
      No domestic infrastructure for euro payments – low
      volume of euro payments (< 300k / month)

      Indirect channels to connect to SEPA CSM – via
      parent banks or correspondent banks

      Public administrations – preparing for adopting SEPA
      together with EURO adoption (~2014)

    SEPA Migration Status - SDD
      1 bank signed the adherence contract to SDD Core
      scheme
      Direct Debit - unfrequently used payment instrument
      in Romania
      banking community makes efforts to promote this
      instrument
      migration to SDD scheme to be finalized end of 2012

    SEPA Migration Status - Cards
      payment cards issued under the Visa or MasterCard
      schemes - holding equal market shares regarding the
      number of cards issued under their brands and the
      volumes of transactions
      no domestic card schemes
      over 95% of total number of cards on the national market
      have payment and cash withdrawal functions
      credit cards make up approximately 11.7 % of total active
      cards
      cash withdrawal transactions are predominant (over 85%)
