Synopsis The MagnetoCaloric effect describes the change in temperature of a magnetic material under conditions through the application or removal of an external magnetic field. More recently there has been significant interest in its possible exploitation in magnetic refrigeration and cryocooling systems. Magnetism is the property of an object being able to attract another object. The two substances that attract must be magnetic. Every natural magnet has both a north pole and south pole while the area around the magnet is its magnetic field. Two magnets attract when the north pole of one magnet is beside the south pole of another magnet, or viceversa. If a north pole of one magnet is placed next to another magnet's north pole, they repel each other.

Magnetic Heat Pumps for Home and Industry, a Potential Design
Magnetic technology is virtually an unlimited source of continuous thermal energy. The new Super Magnets are one-thirtieth the size and up to eight hundred times more powerful than conventional magnets. Revolving magnets in a magnetic field in combination with certain non-magnetic materials generates heat. The heat is then transferred to conducting mediums. The retrofit heating unit will could connect to existing ductwork of any forced air or water heating system.

Nothing yet... can quite replace oil. Solar and wind power are good, but not as effective as oil and can't power transportation, and don't enjoy the huge subsides industry oil has. Hydrogen fuel cells are little more than batteries, an energy carrier not an energy source. Coal and nuclear have serious environmental problems and are also no good for transportation.
By using better and less expensive materials in an efficient and reliable prototypes, the new magnetic air conditioning systems could reduce residential energy use by $2.9 billion per year and reduce 1.8 million tons per year of carbon dioxide and no ozone-depleting warming gases and operates at low pressures.

The first oil crisis in 1973 showed most industrialized countries the vulnerability of their trade and industry and their dependency on imported energy. Five years later - despite higher energy costs nothing happened - the second oil crisis occurred in 1978. This time it led to a more lasting reaction. Serious considerations were made both nationally and internationally on how to reduce the dependency on imported oil. We are now entering a period of the last oil crisis and long term energy changes will be developed.
