CISM SUMMARY FOR BUSY EYES India became a member of CISM on 27 Jan 1999. The Indian Armed Forces representatives attend the 54th, 55th, 56th, 58th and 59th General Assembly of CISM. India hosted the Board of Directors Meeting in Mar 2003 at New Delhi and Vice Adm John C De Silva, VCNS put in a request for hosting MWG 2007. Expenditure of Rs. 11,90,508/- was incurred from NPF on hosting this BoD Meeting. President CISM visited India from 14 Apr to 16 Apr 04 and tentatively allotted Games to India subject to presentation and acceptance of General Assembly at Conakry, Guinea to be attended by 127 Nations. Expenditure of Rs. 81,000/- from NPF was incurred on this visit. The proposal to host 4th Military World Games at Hyderabad in 2007 at a cost of Rs. 20,32,51,200/- and a bank guarantee of US $ 1,00,000 (Rs. 50,00,000/-) was submitted for approval to Ministry of Defence in Aug 2003. Hon’ble RM approved the proposal in Sep 2003 and thereafter bidding documents were submitted to CISM Secretariat in Oct 2003. President and Secretary SSCB presented India’s case for hosting 4 th Military World Games in India during the 59 th General Assembly of CISM at Conakry in May 2004. The General Assembly of CISM accepted the Indian Armed Forces bid to conduct the Games at Hyderabad in 2007. A draft for preliminary contract bid would be finalized and handed over to Indian delegation at Conakry for scrutiny and acceptance. Govt. of India already committed to meet expenditure up to Rs. 20 crores on 22 Sep 03 vide 1001/59/CISM/MWG. Chairman COSC has desired that the event be planned in a befitting manner to ensure MWG 2007 is a grand success of world class standards. Preliminary contract to host the 4 th Military World Games in India in Oct 2007 was signed by Air Marshal AK Singh, AVSM VM VSM, President SSCB at Gabarone, Botswana on 06 Nov 04. The case for depositing a bank guarantee of US $ 1,00,000 to CISM has been approved by Ministry of Defence. The Govt. of India letter has been signed on 24 Jan 05.
