We wish to thank Raj Subramaniam, Executive Director of Outward Bound Trust Sri Lanka (OBTSL), his Board of Directors and Staff for their kindness during her visit. Ms. Loewenberg had the opportunity to discuss with them details of the program, and to observe two OBTSL programs in the field. Ms. Loewenberg met with a number of organizations and individuals interested in the Sri Lanka Outward Bound Peacebuilding Program, including UNDP, the Asian Development Bank and the National Peace Council of Sri Lanka. Middle East Outward Bound Canada has been selected by the Outward Bound Center for Peacebuilding to be the lead delivery school in implementing the 2008 Middle East program. The staff of the program will also include representation from the region. Plans for the program are being discussed with the programmatic partner and will be announced shortly. Rwanda Outward Bound Center for Peacebuilding consultant, Julie Burns, traveled to Rwanda in early March with the Executive Director of Outward Bound South Africa, Jacques De Jongh. The visit resulted in a report that Outward Bound Rwanda and its Director, Ndekezi Maarifa Vincent, and its Board of Directors are progressing with plans and meeting their planned milestones. The visit also allowed for several recommendations on how Outward Bound Rwanda’s supporters may best be of service to Outward Bound Rwanda as it continues to progress in capacity-building, training and fundraising for program activities in the future.
