The Western Sugar Cooperative is a sugar refining/manufacturing company with over 200M in annual sales. We
distribute beet sugar to both industrial and consumer customers under the GW brand and private labels to major
regional grocery and retail stores. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Western has operation sin CO, WY, NE,
and MT. We are currently seeking a results-oriented individual with proven leadership as well as management
experience in supply chain operations.
 Develop and manage Materials Planning function for goods and materials demanded by Western Sugar
 Cooperative’s customers. Create item specific forecasts over a rolling time horizon to be used for ordering
 and inventory management purposes. Create integrated processes among Operations, Purchasing, Logistics,
 and outside suppliers to execute the planning/replenishment process. Identify systems tools needed to
 implement planning/forecasting systems. Lead reengineering efforts as it relates to supply chain planning and
 execution systems.

 Other responsibilities include: Manage and supervise staff tasked with creating material requirement plans
 and/or forecasts for industrial and retail sugar products; establish key performance metrics and benchmarks
 relating to supply chain planning / forecasting; measure actual performance against goals on regular basis and
 present results to senior management; familiar with the development, use, and implementation of planning
 and forecasting systems; apply expertise to specify system functionality; travel as required to enroll company
 wide management in the planning/forecasting process and utilize computer software programs (Excel, Word,
 Powerpoint, Access) for data analysis and reporting.
 Specific Duties
 Package production planning and scheduling activities including:
     • Meet customer delivery requirements
     • Achieve inventory in stock goals
     • Effective utilization of package line capacities
     • Coordinate maintenance down-time schedules between sales and operations
     • Coordinate material requirements
 Rail and truck transportation activities including:
     • Meet customer delivery requirements
     • Develop most cost and service effective carrier base
     • Manage leased railcar fleet
     • Coordinate loading capacity with operations
     • Rate negotiations
     • Resolve service issues with customers, sales and customer Service
     • Coordinate coal, coke, and lime rock with customers, shipments with operations
     • Coordinate molasses shipments with operations/agriculture
 Finished goods inventory management:
     • Meet customer delivery requirements
     • Facilitate campaign storage clearance
     • Efficient utilization of storage assets

     •  Develop and coordinate third-party logistics activities:
            o Contract packaging
            o Public warehousing
            o Outside warehousing
 Package material and pallet procurement:
    • Develop and maintain package material supplier base
    • Maintain material quality standards
    • Coordinate graphics design changes
    • Seek inventory levels which meet customer delivery requirements while minimizing inventory
    • Monitor CHEP invoicing and resolve discrepancies
    • Procure adequate and cost effective brown pallet supply
 Key administrative responsibilities:
    • Personnel supervision, evaluation and development
    • Develop logistics G & A and freight budgets
    • Monthly budget variance analysis
    • Develop shipping/packaging/receiving plans for operations

  • BS/BA degree
  • Experience managing, scheduling, planning for multiple locations (5 Processing Plants & 5 Terminals)
  • 5+ years of related MRP or product specific forecasting in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Familiarity with SAP system is a MUST
  • Must understands integrated supply chain and logistic concepts
  • Must be able to communicate supply chain objectives clearly and convey benefits to the organization
  • Must be knowledgeable in planning and forecasting systems (MRP/ERP/CRM)
  • Must have experience in implementing planning/forecasting system
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Access
  • Excellent analytical abilities
  • Experience in the food/beverage or agricultural commodity processing industry is preferred
  • Excellent team-building and project management skills
 The Director of Supply Chain is expected to supervise 1 Transportation Manager, 1 Transportation Specialist,
 1 Distribution Specialist/Production Planner, 1 Package Material Procurement Expeditor, and be responsible
 for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in
 accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring,
 and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and
 disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
