					Belgium is a member of the Schengen agreement. Countries that participate in the Schengen
agreement are Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, The
Netherlands, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Estonia, Czech Republic, Hungary,
Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia

Visas are required by South African passport holders, visas are not required by British Citizens.
The country of your longest stay will issue your Schengen visa. Only if your stay in the Schengen
states is the same number of days in each country would you apply through the country of the
first port of entry. Schengen visas are free of charge to spouses & children (under 16) of EU
passport holders. A copy of the EU passport & marriage certificate (spouse) or full birth certificate
(child) is required

                 Temporary South African passports are no longer accepted

Cape Town clients

Applicants residing in Cape Town need to apply in person due to Biometric fingerprints taken @
the Consulate. Appointments aren’t required and all applicants need to appear in person between 09:00
and 12:00 Monday to Friday.

TWO color biometrical passport size photos
Itinerary (flight schedule)

Original air ticket plus a copy thereof

Financial: Copy of latest credit card statement or original foreign exchange receipt. You
must have a minimum of R800.00 per person per day to enter the Schengen
states

Accommodation: Confirmation of a Hotel booking faxed directly from Belgium to
the Consulate OR When you are staying with private people, an invitation must be
faxed to the Consulate, together with proof that the person is residing in Belgium (Copy
of ID or residence permit for foreigners) Fax: 00 27 21 421 11 21 - Email:
capetown.visa@diplobel.be OR No foreign exchange must be provided if you have a
guarantee of support. This form is obtainable from The Belgium municipality where the
host is residing. The form has to be completed by your host and his/ her signature
legalised by the same municipality. The original guarantee form, together with proof
that your host disposes of sufficient financial means, must be handed in with your
application


Health insurance: Additional medical insurance must be obtained. You must be covered
for 30.000.00 euros or more

Minors: Children under the age of 18 traveling alone must obtain consent letter from
both parents stamped by Commissioner of Oaths and must submit their unabridged birth
certificate to the Consulate (Unabridged birth certificate obtainable from Visas Zone)

Business: All of the above plus:

Letter from the South African company explaining:

Nature of business;
Duration of trip;
On your return you’ll resume your duties

Letter of invitation from Belgium Company explaining the above
