Sample Comments
“Having a smoke and tobacco free campus would benefit UTA greatly because more people would want to
enroll into a more health conscious university, and not one were they could get sick from second-hand
smoke.”
“A commitment to a healthy environment and to the health of students, staff, and visitors should take
priority over accommodating the habit of a minority. Perhaps, by instituting this change people will be
encouraged to quit. The university should offer information and support regarding smoking and tobacco
cessation programs.”
“A tobacco free campus is a "win/win" opportunity--less campus maintenance, a healthier and cleaner work
environment and healthier coworkers. Thank you for taking the time to promote a tobacco free campus.”
“Although I do not smoke, I recognize the rights of others to smoke, and I feel the current rule about
staying away from buildings is sufficient enough to keep me healthy.”
“Are Twinkies next?”
“At the very least, the current smoking policy should be enforced. Many students do not abide by the 50
feet from building rule.”
