                                     INSET COURSE

          POSITIVE APPROACHES TO MANAGING CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR
                       BASED UPON THE PRINCIPLES OF IABA

                                    11 MARCH 2008

                              ARMAGH TEACHERS’ CENTRE

       (This is a repeat of course run in Armagh Teachers’ Centre March 2007)

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Teachers, SENCOs and staff who manage children with challenging behaviour within
specialist provision ie LSCs or Special Schools.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

      To provide training in functional assessment of behaviour and how to use this
       information to develop behavioural support plans.

      To provide an overview of a person-centred model for providing positive
       behaviour support plan and describe the roles that ecology, positive
       programming and reinforcement play within this mode.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course provides a starting point for staff working with children who present with
challenging behaviour.

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS:            25
