            Programme Types offered at INTEC College
            National Qualifications are credit-bearing qualifications registered
 NQF        on the NQF (National Qualification Framework) and accredited by
            a Quality Assurance Body, such as a SETA (Sector Education and
            Training Authority). A skills programme is an accredited component of
            a national qualification.
 Provider INTEC Provider Programmes are INTEC’s vocational certificates
Programme and diplomas that enhance your skills and improve your career
          opportunities. Provider Programmes are not linked to the NQF and
          are not credit-bearing. However, they are in high demand and carry
          the approval of the INTEC Academic Board.
  Agent   Agent programmes are programmes for which INTEC offers tuition,

          issues the final certificate and manages the final examinations.
  Career    INTEC CareerBooster courses are continuous professional

            professional knowledge in a particular field, and hence boost your

  Career    INTEC CareerStarter courses are short courses that introduce

   Job      INTEC JobCreator courses were designed to refine your skills in

   Self    INTEC Self-Enrichment courses are offered for self-enrichment

                     Entrance Requirements
          We strongly recommend that you have an English
language skill in reading and writing equivalent to Grade 10
(Std. 8).

Course Duration
You should be able to complete this course within 18 months.

Recreational Art
Diploma

In this course you will learn to paint and
draw various subjects using different mediums.
Programme Type
The Recreational Art programme is an INTEC Job Creator
Programme.

Entrance Requirements
We strongly recommend that you have an English language
skill in reading and writing equivalent to Grade 10 (Std. 8).

Course Duration
You should be able to complete this course within 24 months.

Course Content
Core: Compulsory
• Watercolour Painting:
   Water-based Media, Materials, Paint Quality,
   Colours, Brushes.
• Oil Painting
   Technical Freedom and Restriction in Oil Painting,
   Materials, Alkyd Resin Paints, Oils and Varnishes,
   Supports and Grounds, Setting out the Palette, Basic
   Colour Mixing, Landscape Painting, Still Life, The use of
   the Painting Knife.
Electives: Select 2 of the following
• Landscape Painting
   Depth and Distance, Choice of Subject, Working
   Sequence, Media and Materials, Photographs, Sketches,
   Composing a Landscape.
• Still Life
   Interpretation and Limitation, Media, Choosing and
   Arranging a Still Life, Painting a Still Life,
   The Construction of Flowers as Forms, Flowers in
   Natural Settings.
• Portrait and Figure Drawing
   Subject, Method, Light and Shadow, Types of Portraits,
   The Basic Components of a Portrait, Planes.
• Cartooning
   Human form, Gags, Comic Strips, Caricature, Animated
   Cartoons, Selling Cartoons.

Assessments
The written assignments are dependent on the electives
you choose.

Award
On successful completion of this course you will receive your
INTEC Recreational Art Diploma.


Start your own Small Business
You have the option to enroll for an assessment against 4
Unit standards for which the ICB has FASSET accreditation.
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded with 23
credits towards the Small Business Financial Management
Qualification.

Assessment and Exam Information
You are required to hand in written assignments and write 1
formal exam per subject. Please note that exams are written
in May and October of each year. To qualify to write these
exams you must be registered with the Institute of Certified
Bookkeepers (ICB) before the closing date.

Graphic and Advertising Design

                                                           Booster


This course will introduce you to the Graphic Design
and Advertising industries. It is for students who wish to
learn the basics of art and design and be exposed to it
across the board and then from there select a discipline
that interests them. Practical exercises and projects
will assist you in developing the skills needed to create
visual layouts using typography. The assignments will
help you to compile a portfolio.

Programme Type
The Graphic and Advertising Design programme is part of the
INTEC Career Booster series.
Entrance Requirements
We strongly recommend that you have an English language
skill in reading and writing equivalent to Grade 10 (Std. 8).

Course Duration
You should be able to complete the Graphic and Advertising
Design course within 12 months. Should you choose one of
the computer add-on courses, it will take you an additional
6 months to complete.

You are required to hand in 10 hand worked assignments. The
assignments are focussed on sketching and artwork done. Software
will not be accepted.

    Photoshop can be an invaluable tool for creating graphics,
    allowing you to begin with scanned photographs or hand
    artwork or by painting and creating artwork from within the
    application. The results can include retouched and colour
    corrected photographs, photo illustrations and computer
    effects.




•   *NEW* CorelDRAW X5
    STUDENT VERSION
    CorelDRAW is a graphics programme which allows you to
    create illustrations containing text, graphics and electronic
    photographs that could be used in graphics for Internet
    use, logos, marketing brochures, posters and much more.


PC Requirements are the same for both packages:
Personal computer with minimum 1GHz (x86) or 1.4GHz (x64) processor
(2GHz or faster recommended), 1 GB of RAM or more (4GB recommended;
8GB enables you to host all the virtual machines specified for all the practice
exercises in the book), 15GB free hard disk space (60GB recommended; 80
GB enables you to host all the virtual machines specified for all the practice
exercises in the book), DVD-ROM Drive or DVD Writer Drive, Super VGA (1,
024 x 768) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor, Keyboard and
Microsoft mouse or compatible pointing device .
