                              CAMP 3 – SEYMOUR April 29th & 30th 2006

Dear Network Coaches and Senior Coaches,

Thank you all for your attendance at Camp 3. I know that many of you are busy with respective State Team
Commitments on the horizon and that your free time will be minimal in the coming months. With this in
mind the program and indeed myself are very appreciative of your commitment.

We will be conducting the usual physical testing this week end as well as Sports Science education
component will be focusing on improving the athletes in some of these areas. Phil Shelley will be heading
up that part of the program.

Areas of emphasis throughout the camp are to include
   • Catching the ball in a low athletic stance
   • Shooting / Footwork
   • Passing
   • Catch & shoot off the flare cut
   • Non-dominant hand passing and dribble penetration
   • Containment
   • Offensive communication
   • Jump to the ball on defence
   • Athletes providing leadership

We will have some visiting coaches on the Saturday, Rod Popp (Kilsyth), former Cairns Marlins NBL head
coach and Derek Waugh who is in his 6th season as head coach at Stetson University, Florida - NCAA
Division 1. Coach Popp will be taking one of the sessions, this will be an excellent opportunity for the
athletes. Please make them welcome and if you get a chance, talk some hoops with these very
experienced coaches.

As usual I would like to ask that all coaches help set the tone for the camp by being active and enthusiastic
during the drills and to keep the kids moving quickly between drills and/or stations. The work ethic we
desire from the athletes can only be expected if we provide the intensity ourselves. As always, it will be up
to us as a group to make the camp worthwhile for the athletes and coaches

Many thanks

Marty
