Title: Complete Denture Course ‘A Contemporary Take On 1920’s Dentistry’

Date: Friday 25th February 2011 Time: Registration at 9:00am Close at 4:30pm

Venue: The University of Liverpool Dental School Education Wing

Speaker: Peter Smyth
Peter qualified from Dundee in 1992 and now runs Cheshire Smile Clinic, situated in South
Liverpool. This clinic accepts referrals for endodontics, restorative dentistry, dental implants,
periodontal cases and complete dentures. Post-graduate training eventually led to a Masters
degree in prosthodontics, Manchester University 2001. With over 10 years experience of private
referral dentistry Peter is dedicated to providing the highest quality dental care for patient
referrals, his particular interest is restoring failed adult dentitions.

General Dental Practitioners will appreciate the fact that a quality prosthetic service enables
patients to maintain their healthy diet with the health benefits this imparts. A case assessment
enables practitioners to easily determine which cases are easy/intermediate and which are
unlikely to be successful without dental implants or a referral. Attendance at this event will
provide participants with the skills needed to undertake an effective case assessment, prescribe
and fabricate ideal complete dentures.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the event participants will be able to:

 Demonstrate the stages required to fabricate user-friendly dentures for eating and
       Set up denture teeth using dental anatomy and the principles of aesthetics to produce;
trial dentures, wax-ups, crowns, bridges and ultimately for the planning and execution of
well designed fixed prostheses supported by dental implants.
 Review their in-house prosthetic service and utilise the practical and theory training
        covered on this course.
